🌿 We're starting Botany Knowledge for Outdoor Teaching on April 21st🌿 Facilitated by Jessica Moulynox from Backyard Botany
Ready to grow your plant knowledge and confidence in the field? 🌱
This three-part professional learning series is designed for educators and outdoor practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of the plant world — from foundational botany concepts through to practical plant identification skills you can apply straight away in your programs.
Jessica brings botany to life in an engaging, interactive and highly accessible way, helping you connect science with real-world outdoor learning experiences.
✨ What to expect:
-Foundational botany knowledge
-Practical plant ID skills for the field
-Engaging, applied learning you can use immediately
-Greater confidence in teaching about the natural world
Each workshop can stand alone, so you’re welcome to attend one or two. However, the sessions are intentionally designed to build on one another — and you’ll gain the greatest depth of understanding by completing the full series.

Pre-Conference sessions
This year, we will have 3 Pre-Conference sessions on Wednesday, 22nd of July
The two options below can be paired for a full day; both are pay-as-you-feel on the day, but registration is required.
1) 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Wildflower Restoration at Iramoo Grassland: Take a tour of Iramoo Wildflower Grassland Reserve – home of the Striped Legless Lizard in the west of Melbourne.
2) 1:00 - 4:00 pm. Critical Allyship: Towards Cultural Safety: Developed within the Moondani Balluk Indigenous Unit at VU, the Critical Allyship training program aims to build skills and knowledge in professionals that work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities regarding ethical engagement and collaboration.
3) 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. Benefit Risk Principles, Planning, & Practice Workshop. (Free to attend-registration required). This session aims to explore the understanding of risk-benefit approaches and provide practical insights to support confident decision-making in principals, planning, and practice.
