Hello everyone,
It has been a long time since I've posted, I've been busy with the newest little member of our family. 💕
Just writing to let you know I am closing my books for sleep consulting for now. I'm not sure when or if I will start up again. But for now, I am soaking up every second with my last baby 🥹. My website will be shut down over the weekend.
Thanks everyone for your support, I will keep my socials open for a while so feel free to message me, but full consultations are no longer available.

Happy New Year!! I hope 2023 is great to you and brings you lots of sleep! 😉🤞🏻
I realise have been quite absent from my socials for some months. I have been enjoying my time with my family, in particular with my son, who starts 3 year old kinder in a couple of weeks! 😱🥹 Leaving me a little more time to myself.
So, this year you will see me more on here. Sharing my knowledge, tips and advice around sleep and little people in general.

Can you believe we are only 10 days away from Christmas eve?! 😳 I certainly can not!!
My apologies for being so MIA for quite a long time. I had a bit of a break from writing and creating content. I've been spending quality time with my family and especially my little man, who will be at kinder next year! 😭 (I'm not ready for it!!)
From now, I am going to be more present. I'm here to support and help you through your sleep struggles. Whether that is by answering your more basic questions here, or in a more personal way via a private consultation.

3 to 2 NAPS (from 8 months)
When your baby is showing signs they are ready to drop to 2 naps, it is time to drop their late afternoon nap. Holding on to the 3rd nap for too long or if it is too long in duration, can result in early morning waking and can push bedtime too late.
You can actually be proactive about dropping this nap by reducing it over time:
4 months - 45 minutes
5 months - 30 minutes
6 months - 15-20 minutes
Otherwise, just reduce it by around 15 minutes for at least 3 days to see if it resolves the later bedtime or early waking. If not, reduce it by another 15 minutes until nights are working again.
2 to 1 NAPS (from 15months)
With this nap drop, I always recommend reducing the duration first until it is just a catnap, before trying to drop it completely.
When your child is showing signs, it might be time to drop their morning nap. Start by offering them a morning nap every second day. On the days they do not nap in the morning you will need to bring the lunchtime nap forward by about 30minutes and bring bedtime forward by 30-60 minutes.
1 to 0 NAPS (from 2.5 years)
When your child is showing the above signs, you can start to to reduce their nap by 15 minutes every 3-5 days and see if the night sleep improves. If it doesn’t then drop another 15 minutes, every few days until you notice an improvement. Your child may just need a 15-30 minute nap each day for a little while, before they are ready to completely drop it.
When it is time to drop the nap completely, they still may need a nap every couple of days, but I recommend offering them some quiet time in the middle of the day to replace it. We all need a rest during the day!

When it comes to sleep for our little ones, there are a number or red flags to keep an eye out for, I will list a few of them here.
I hear often from parents that “my child has always been a terrible sleeper” or “they’ve never been a great sleeper”. When I hear these kind of comments, I know there is something in the way of sleep working for them. So when I work one on one with my clients, these are the things that I look out for and ask about when we start the process.
• Mouth breathing while asleep or at rest
• Snoring
• Waking up sweaty when it isn’t particularly hot/humid
• Feeding issues – whether that is milk or solids feeding
• Excessive dribbling when not teething/unwell
• Noisy breathing
• Gasping for air while sleeping
• Appearing tired through the day, when they have had the recommended amount of sleep for their age
• Hyperactivity or constant behavioural issues
• Reflux
• Low tongue posture
• High palate
• Neck hyperextended when sleeping
• Crooked teeth

Today is International Embryologist Day. The very first IVF baby was born on July 25 1978.
I am so thankful for the technology we have available to us now, and all of the specialists, embryologists, nurses and everyone else who is a part of the IVF process.
If it weren't for these wonderful people, I and many others, would not have had the chance to become parents to our extra special, precious little people.

So your little one is taking off their sleeping bag and nappy in bed, so is it time to ditch the sleeping bag??
Not yet.
Before you decide to give up the sleeping bag, try these tips -
💫 pop their sleeping bag on inside out. With the zip on the inside, it is much more difficult to unzip it.
💫 if the inside out sleeping bag fails, try it backwards *please note that some sleeping bags will come up too high in the neck to put on backwards.
💫 try either pull ups, put the nappy on backwards or a reusable cover over the nappy put on backwards.
💫 use a zip up wondersuit underneath (again, backwards if needed).
💫 if your Houdini can somehow get out of all of the above, it is time to say goodbye to the sleeping bag and layer up, or use a blanket/doona.
