In 1991 they doubled the width of the Fitzsimons Lane bridge at Westerfolds Park one year before the Barcelona Olympics. Why they didn't get in the river and build a whitewater course we'll never know. Downstream at Dights Falls Craig Bartlett tried and did a great job that same year, but he was working under quite a few restrictions.

Fitzsimons Lane bridge was built in 1960 on land donated from the Fitzsimons family. Before it was built there was a swimming hole there with a beach and a rockpool.
