A lot of clients start out with us wanting to get healthy, then fall pregnant! Funny how that works.
A few people around the gym have mentioned issues with Scoliosis. Give this sequence a go along with unilateral leg and limb work like Lunges and single arm pushing and pulling to bring back Symmetry. For the majority of people with minor scoliosis its not genetic just postural and can be resolved or improved with a bit of work.
Decompress with an inverted hang for 60-120 seconds. This will help straighten out posture
Follow this up with single leg back extensions, this will force each side of your back muscle to work more independantly and build symmetry.
Improve symmetry and core stability.
Repeat with weight progression for a few months to see big changes.

Rod and I have been working together for 7+ years now. I met Rod when he was recovering from a cancer surgery and in a really bad way.
He has numerous injuries from workplace accidents and a spinal fusion which cause him chronic pain along with a severe arthritic condition which needs to be managed.
Over the years his doctors have referred him out to more specialised services for this but he always comes back to me because they cant reduce his pain AND keep him capable and strong for his livestock working role.
Each session starts with mobility work to prime his problem areas and then we focus on moderate and dynamic loading.
I love working with Rod on this as we share stories and decifer the ever evolving puzzle caused by his conditions.

Warm Welcome aboard! Luke Howard from Howard Strength.
"I started my gym journey at 27 (I’m now 40), after spending most of my 20s only half-heartedly committed to country football. I gained strength quickly, loved pushing myself, and finally felt like I’d found something I was passionate about.
Two years in, I developed serious upper-body issues and eventually lost the ability to lift my left arm. A cervical spinal fusion helped me regain feeling, followed by months of rehab before returning to training.
A couple of years later, the issues returned and I was placed on a waiting list for another surgery. After a year of waiting, I decided to take myself off the list and see how much strength I could build back.
I never had a second fusion.
Since then, I’ve competed in 20+ strength competitions, mostly powerlifting with the occasional strongman event for fun — most recently jumping into Strongmania at Leviathan at the last minute.
2025 was a huge year. I summited Mera Peak in Nepal (6,473m), returned home to running, then prepared for my powerlifting comeback in Brisbane. I went 9/9, hit a competition PB total of 637.5kg in the Men’s Tested U90kg class, and qualified for APL Tested Nationals in Melbourne this September.
Those setbacks gave me a much greater appreciation for what our bodies are capable of and the importance of strength training. Feeling strong and capable as we age matters. Now in my 40s, I’m considerably stronger than I ever was in my 20s.
I started Howard Strength in 2021 to help others become stronger, realise their potential and improve their quality of life.
For the past three years I’ve coached from The Strength Den in Burnie, working with everyone from teenagers through to clients in their 70s. I particularly enjoy helping first-timers build confidence in the gym.
My coaching experience includes technique classes, powerlifting coaching and meets, directing APL Den Domination, working with North West Support School and Indie School, and coaching multiple powerlifters over the past five years — including athletes, and myself, who have achieved National records.

Well done who competed today at the STRONGMANIA qualifier. Super fun in gym comp with everyone supporting eachother. Happy to make it through my first comp in years myself.
Thank you so much STRONGMANIA Camilla Fogagnolo Carl Sherry Cerberus Strength Australia for running the event so smoothly. Exciting to see so many of you from the gym doing their best.
