What a finish! Andrew McDonald & Trent Casey jumped out to an early 3 up lead through 8 holes, before Craig Murdoch & Dave Macdonald fought back to get within 1 down after 12. Andrew and Trent responded to go dormie 2 up with 2 to play, but Craig and Dave dug deep, winning 17 & 18 to force extra holes.

With a crowd gathering to watch an incredible finish, the match went all the way to the 22nd hole, where Craig Murdoch rolled in the winning putt to secure the Mac Gamble Trophy, known at MGC as the 5th Major.

A fantastic contest played in great spirit, with some outstanding golf from both teams. Congratulations to Craig Murdoch & Dave Macdonald, and well played to Andrew McDonald & Trent Casey on a memorable final. ⛳👏🏆

Mornington Golf Club is delighted to congratulate member and valued Club sponsor Matt Bebe, along with the entire team at Tar Barrel Brewery & Distillery, on an outstanding national achievement.

Tar Barrel’s Corner Pale has been named Champion Pale at the inaugural B**r Championships, an impressive result in a competition featuring 262 beers from 74 breweries across Australia.

The award is a fantastic recognition of the passion, hard work and expertise that Matt and Head Brewer Andrew “AG” Gow have brought to Tar Barrel over many years. Their brewing partnership has developed over more than a decade, and it is wonderful to see one of Tar Barrel’s core beers now receive national recognition.

For Mornington Golf Club, the achievement is particularly pleasing because Matt and Tar Barrel have been tremendous supporters of our Club.

Matt is not only a valued member of MGC, but through Tar Barrel has also been a major sponsor and generous supporter of the Club. Their ongoing involvement and contribution is greatly appreciated and is another example of a successful local business supporting its local community.

Based in Watt Road, Mornington, Tar Barrel has established itself as one of the Mornington Peninsula’s recognised breweries and distilleries, producing a range of beers, gin, wh**ky and vodka while maintaining a strong connection to the local area.

The award-winning Corner Pale is brewed with Citra and Amarillo hops and has long been part of Tar Barrel’s core range, making the achievement even more special for the many locals who already know and enjoy it.

The Jean Ellis Trophy Final was played today in pristine conditions, with blue skies and beautiful sunshine - a taste of what’s to come this summer! ☀️⛳

The final saw Jenny Brown & Jenny Richards take on Teresa Laird & Jenny Brooks in what turned out to be a fantastic contest. With both teams battling it out in the beautiful conditions, the match went all the way to extra holes before being decided on the 20th hole, where Jenny Brown and Jenny Richards emerged victorious!

👏 Congratulations to all four players on a fantastic final and a wonderful event.

A huge thank you to Maureen Conlon for adjudicating the match, and to our generous event donors - Carol Rouse, Jenny Brown, Heather Mushet and Janine Bone - for their support.

The Final of the 2026 Presidents Trophy was played between Jim Barber and Trevor Schoenmaekers. This was a culmination of 7 rounds of individual Matchplay and the cream certainly rose to the top. Jim Barber was victorious in the last hole to take home the special coveted trophy. Club President, Mick Haderup was on hand to present Jim with his trophy. Well done to both finalists on getting so far. Congrats to Jim on lifting the trophy. 🏌️🏌️⛳️💪🙏

The 2026 Prosser Humphris Trophy final was played in near perfect sunny conditions today. After a qualifying round and three Matchplay rounds of 4BBB Gav Singleton and Nick Webster lifted the famous trophy defeating Graeme Stait and Phil Jones on the 21st hole. Congratulations on a fantastic victory! 🏌️🏌️⛳️🙏☀️

Mornington Golf Club was delighted to host its Women’s Challenge Bowl on Thursday 15 October, with a wonderful field of players representing clubs from across the region.
Congratulations to Riversdale Golf Club, who claimed the Bowl with a team score of 99. Playing in a 4BBB stableford aggregate teams event.

Runners-Up – Mount Martha Golf Club – 93

The Best Pair was Jenny Roberts & Liz Mellish from Portsea Golf Club, with a score of 49. The Best Runners-Up Pair was Kerstin Greenwood & Monica Wang from Victoria Golf Club, with a score of 47.
A big thank you to our Women’s Subcommittee for all the work that went into organising and running the day, and to our wonderful volunteers who assisted with ball spotting and bunker raking throughout the event. Your support helped ensure the day ran smoothly and was greatly appreciated by everyone involved. Thanks also to our chefs and hospitality team for providing a delicious lunch, which was the perfect way to finish off a terrific day of golf.
Congratulations again to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to another successful Women’s Challenge Bowl at Mornington Golf Club.
