We are a member of the Hills Football League (SA) and have teams from under 8's up to senior level. Season 2016 will also be the first season the Mount Barker Football Club have entered teams into the Women Football Competition. We welcome any inquiries from new players, sponsors and supporters.

Last night, the Mount Barker Football Club proudly awarded Life Membership to Brett Heinrich, recognising a lifetime of contribution as a player, coach, coordinator, volunteer and passionate clubman. Nominated by Simon Nunan, Brett’s journey through the Roos is one of achievement, service and deep family connection β€” a legacy now spanning four generations.

Brett’s football story began in the MBFC junior ranks, playing from U10s through U17s between 1990 and 1998. He quickly emerged as one of the most talented juniors of his era, winning the U14 Mail Medal in 1996, the U17 Mail Medal in 1997, and being named Best Player in the HFL Croser & Parker Shield. He was also a member of the 1994 U14 premiership side, showcasing the skill and competitiveness that would define his football career. His ability was recognised beyond the Hills, earning him opportunities with Sturt’s U17 and U19 programs, where he continued to develop as a high‑level junior footballer.

Returning to Mount Barker, Brett played approximately 50 senior games for the Roos before moving to Langhorne Creek, where he became a key figure in their A Grade program. His time there included two A Grade premierships, a Mail Medal, and a Best & Fairest, cementing his reputation as a tough, reliable and highly respected footballer.

But Brett’s greatest impact on the Roos has come through his service off the field. He spent three years as Auskick Coordinator, shaping the club’s youngest players and helping build the foundation of our junior program. He has coached the U8s, U9s, U10s, U11s and U12s, served as Junior Coordinator for two years, and supported the U17s as assistant coach and runner. Brett also contributed at senior level as an A Grade runner, served on the Social Club Committee, and in 2026 took on the major responsibility of coordinating the Past Players Day, delivering one of the Club’s most successful community events.

Across every role β€” player, coach, coordinator, volunteer β€” Brett has embodied the values of the Mount Barker Football Club. His leadership, humility, reliability and passion have strengthened our junior pathways, supported our senior program and enriched the culture of the Roos community.

Brett Heinrich’s contribution is not defined by one chapter, but by decades of service across every level of the Club. His Life Membership recognises a football journey built on loyalty, family, community and an unwavering commitment to the blue and white.

Last night, the Mount Barker Football Club proudly awarded Life Membership to Todd Billing, recognising nearly three decades of dedication as a player, coach, leader and passionate contributor to the Roos. Nominated by Mark Bell, Todd’s story is one of loyalty, commitment and genuine love for the blue and white β€” a legacy built across generations.

Todd first pulled on the Roos jumper in 1997. A talented junior, he played in back‑to‑back U14 premierships in 2003 and 2004 under coach David Greenslade, setting the tone for a football journey defined by hard work and team‑first values. His final junior year in 2008 saw him play both A and B Grade before stepping into senior football full‑time in 2009, where he immediately claimed the Most Improved B Grade award.

Across his senior career, Todd has played 150+ games, kicked more than 70 goals, and represented the Roos in multiple grades with distinction. His achievements in C Grade are particularly outstanding: C Grade Mail Medallist in 2021, runner‑up twice, C Grade Best & Fairest in both 2021 and 2025 and last night was also awarded the B Grade Best & Fairest for 2026. Todd has also been recognised as Best Team Man in the B Grade in 2010 and 2012 β€” a reflection of his selflessness, leadership and the respect he holds among teammates.

Todd’s contribution extends far beyond playing. He captained multiple senior sides, coached the B Grade from 2020–2022, and even stepped up to coach an A Grade match in 2020. In 2025, he took on the role of Coaching Coordinator, helping guide and support coaches across the Club. His leadership, football knowledge and passion for developing others have made a lasting impact on our senior program.

A proud fourth‑generation Roo, Todd’s connection to the Club runs deep. After a brief time at Nairne, he returned to Mount Barker as a more experienced footballer and coach β€” bringing back knowledge, maturity and a renewed drive to contribute to the Roos community.

Todd is one of the most passionate men you’ll meet. His love for the Roos sits just behind his love for his family, and he has devoted a significant part of his life to strengthening our Club on and off the field. His accolades tell the story of a committed footballer, but his character tells the story of a true clubman.

Last night, the Mount Barker Football Club proudly awarded Life Membership to David McMurtrie, recognising an extraordinary 24‑year contribution as a player, coach, committee member and lifelong supporter of the blue and white.

Nominated by Andrew β€œAussie” Ausserlechner, David’s journey through the Roos is one of loyalty, resilience and unwavering commitment β€” the kind of legacy that strengthens a Club across generations.

David’s story with the MBFC began in 1971 as a 10‑year‑old mini c**t, pulling on the guernsey for the first time and laying the foundations for what would become a remarkable football life. He progressed through Junior and Senior Colts, B Grade and eventually into A Grade, where he made his debut in 1982. What followed was a defining chapter in Club history: David became a key defender in the undefeated 1982 and 1983 A Grade premiership sides, remembered for his uncompromising approach, fierce competitiveness and absolute team‑first attitude. Those premierships remain iconic moments for the Roos, and David’s role in them is etched into our Club’s proud history.

Across the 1980s and early 1990s, David continued to serve the Club wherever he was needed β€” B Grade, C Grade, the unique A2 Country Division years, coaching roles and committee duties. He played more than 300 games for Mount Barker, coached the C Grade to two Grand Finals, won the Reserves Best & Fairest in 1992 and 1993, and claimed the 1991 Reserves Mail Medal. His willingness to step up, stay loyal and put the Club first was evident again in 1991 when he declined an offer to coach Macclesfield, choosing instead to remain at Mount Barker to support the Roos.

David’s football journey didn’t end when he moved to Callington in 1995. Instead, he continued giving back to community football, playing another 150 senior games for Callington until finally hanging up the boots at 48 years old β€” a testament to his passion for the game and his enduring love for local footy.

Across five decades, David has been shaped by β€” and helped shape β€” the people around him. Coaches such as Gordon Pfeiffer, Malcolm Paech, John Mahomet, Trevor Ware, Dexter Kennedy, D’arcy Walsh, Graham Hibbard and Phil Heinrich all played roles in his development, but it was David’s character, commitment and team‑first mentality that left the lasting mark on our Club.

David McMurtrie’s contribution to the Mount Barker Football Club is not measured solely in games played, premierships won or awards earned. It is measured in loyalty, leadership, community spirit and the countless moments β€” big and small β€” where he chose to put the Roos first. His legacy is woven into the fabric of our Club.

Congratulations to Tobi Coonan on being named the Marston Family Club Person of the Year.

This is one of the Club’s highest honours, recognising an individual whose contribution goes above and beyond in service of the Roos. It is an award that could not be more deserved for Tobi, whose commitment, leadership, and willingness to help in every corner of the Club have made an enormous impact throughout the year.

As the Club’s Head Trainer, Tobi is one of the first people to arrive and one of the last to leave, carrying the responsibility of player welfare with a level of professionalism and care that sets the standard for everyone around him. His calm presence on game day and meticulous preparation behind the scenes ensure our players are supported, confident, and ready to perform across all grades. The trust and respect he has earned from players, coaches, and fellow volunteers speak volumes about the way he goes about his role.

Beyond his work at the Roos, Tobi also serves as President of the Hills Football League Trainers Association, a position that reflects the high regard in which he is held across the broader football community. Through this role, he advocates for best practice, supports fellow trainers, and helps raise standards of care throughout the league.

Within the Club, Tobi’s influence extends far beyond the trainers' room. As a member of the Roos Committee, he brings thoughtful insight, practical solutions, and a tireless work ethic to every discussion and project. Earlier this year, he completely redesigned the Club’s website, delivering a modern, professional digital presence that better reflects the strength of our organisation. He also led efforts to improve brand consistency across our social media platforms, helping strengthen the Club’s image both online and within the community.

Then there are the countless contributions that often go unnoticed. Tobi is our resident problem solver, the person everyone turns to when something needs fixing, improving, or figuring out. Whether it is technology, equipment, facilities, or one of the many unexpected challenges that arise during a football season, Tobi is always willing to step in and get the job done. He never seeks recognition or praise, simply focusing on what needs to be done to help the Club succeed.

What makes Tobi truly deserving of the Club Person of the Year award is not just the number of roles he fills or the hours he volunteers. It is the way he approaches everything he does. He leads with humility, serves with generosity, and constantly looks for ways to make the experience better for players, volunteers, members, and supporters alike. His contribution touches every part of the Club, from player welfare and governance to facilities, technology, and community engagement.

Tobi was the reigning Club Person of the Year coming into this season, yet somehow found ways to contribute even more. His dedication to the Roos is unwavering, and his impact is felt across every level of the Club.

It’s an honour that is genuinely well-earned and a fitting acknowledgement of the outstanding contribution Jordan has made to our Club throughout the year. As our Auskick Coordinator, Jordan has overseen a program that has achieved its biggest participation year ever. That milestone doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of countless hours, thoughtful planning, and a genuine passion for giving young kids the best possible introduction to footy.

Jordan’s leadership in Auskick has been nothing short of exceptional. He brings energy, organisation, and a calm, welcoming presence that makes families feel supported and kids feel excited to be involved. Under his guidance, the program has grown not only in numbers but in spirit, with sessions that are fun, inclusive, and consistently well-run. His ability to connect with both children and parents has been a major factor in the success and growth of our junior football community.

Behind Jordan’s efforts is a strong support network, especially his wife Emma, who plays an enormous role in helping make it all happen. Whether it’s assisting on busy Auskick mornings, helping with communication, or simply providing the support every volunteer relies upon, Emma’s contribution is deeply valued and appreciated.

As if leading a record-breaking Auskick program wasn’t enough, Jordan also stepped up during the season to take on the role of Moddies Coordinator. In that position, he became an invaluable support for our coaches and families, helping manage scheduling, coordinating teams, resolving issues as they arose, and ensuring the season ran as smoothly as possible. His willingness to put his hand up when the Club needed additional support demonstrates the selfless attitude and commitment that make him such a valued member of our community. No challenge was too big or too small, and his calm, practical approach helped countless volunteers focus on what mattered most: providing a great experience for our young players.

Jordan embodies everything that makes junior community sport thrive: dedication, leadership, teamwork, and a genuine commitment to helping young players develop both on and off the field. Through his outstanding work as Auskick Coordinator, his willingness to step into the Moddies Coordinator role when needed, and his constant support of coaches, players, and families, Jordan has made an extraordinary contribution to our Club this year. His impact on our junior community has been remarkable and lasting.

Being named Junior Club Person of the Year is recognition of the difference Jordan makes every week and the positive influence he continues to have across every facet of our junior program. We are incredibly fortunate to have someone of his character, commitment, and leadership leading the way.
