Due to the storms and extended power outages to critical infrastructure in the Lower Hunter last week, the Newcastle Harbour water quality has been assessed by relevant authorities as very poor.

With this information, the Stockton SLSC has made the decision to cancel our iconic Newcastle Australia Day Harbour Swim event for this year.

While it is disappointing for our local community, the open swim community and our club, safety is paramount.

We know it is a bucket list experience for our swimmers and for those already registered, we will honour your registration in next year's event.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support of our Surf Club and its commitment to protecting our community.
