📢 𝐏𝐍𝐒𝐖 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 – 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐞

Following continued wet weather and the condition of the grounds, the difficult decision has been made to postpone tomorrow’s PNSW State Gender Triples Championship at Newcastle.

While it is recognised that some competitors may have been comfortable playing in wet conditions, this decision has been made with consideration for all registered players, ensuring fairness, safety, and the best possible playing experience for everyone involved.

We understand this news will be disappointing, particularly for those who were travelling or looking forward to the event, and we sincerely thank everyone for their understanding and support.

We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and look forward to welcoming competitors back to Newcastle then.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

𝗣𝗡𝗦𝗪 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

With the PNSW State Gender Triples Championship due to roll into Newcastle this Sunday, we thought it best to get ahead of the weather forecast… 🌧️😅

Light rain is currently predicted, but rest assured - the club is already hard at work making sure 𝐰𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐮𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧! 🔌💦

As you can see from our latest maintenance photo, the emergency drainage system has officially been activated.
We’re hopeful the pistes will be looking a little less “water feature” and a little more “championship ready” by the weekend. 🤞😂

Stay tuned for updates… and fingers crossed the weather gods are kind to us!

The Newcastle Petanque Club will host the Petanque New South Wales State Gender Triples Championships on Sunday 24 May, attracting many of the state’s top players to Newcastle for a full day of high level competition.
Twenty teams comprising 60 competitors from across New South Wales and the ACT will contest the titles of NSW Champions in what is expected to be one of the strongest fields assembled this year.
Local interest will focus on Australian World Championship representatives Bronson Romani and Kierran Clarke, who will be aiming to continue with their outstanding recent form.
Bronson recently won the Australian National Championship in Adelaide and the pair won the prestigious L’International Queensland tournament last weekend.
Tournament play will commence at 9.00am, with spectators welcome throughout the day to experience the skill, precision and strategy of one of the world’s fastest-growing boules sports.

Following this media release, the Newcastle Herald will look to pick up the story and publish on Saturday, just in time for Sunday's competition.

For those looking to play, registration closes tonight at midnight via MyPetanque.
Get in quick! This is a competition you won't want to miss!

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠… 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲

Just moments before the opening games of the 2026 L’International Queensland Double, none other than Bronson Romani was spotted doing some last-minute study with a “How to Play Pétanque” guide… 😆

Turns out whatever was on that board must have worked!

After all these years at the top of the game, it’s nice to know even the experienced players are still looking for a few tips… either that, or he was giving the rest of the field a false sense of confidence.. 😉

After the competition we went back to investigate…. apparently we all missed “Step 1: Partner with Magic K (aka Kierran Clarke)”!

Congratulations once again Bronson & Kierran on a fantastic result!
