Saturday was a joint training session for Snr B mixed and BCP crews from and respectively. Both crews continue their prep for .dragonboat.sport CCWC in Taiwan, happening in a handful of weeks.
Great to have so many Sydneysiders training with us in the southern NSW region on a chilly Saturday. Thanks for travelling all the way for the session.
Plenty of Waterdragons clubbies were there, too, keepin’ ‘em honest as we tackled 2km turns, 500s and 200 metres racing in an epic mid-winter session.
Two people in attendance on Saturday. deserve special mention:
1. Coach Rosie - our metro coach - who has been appointed by as Snr C division coach. Congratulations Rosie, we are so proud of you! We are all behind you, cheering you on, as you take on this amazing coaching role with Snr C paddlers.
2. First-time paddler, Alicia, who participated in the entire session on Saturday, including racing dragon boats against paddlers with decades of experience and who are 3, 4 and even 5 times her age. Amazing effort by this young first-time paddler.
Well done Rosie & Alicia.

A message from Club President Marilyn Prothero on the morning after hosting the Southern Region Sports & Community Dragon Boat Regatta, at Riverbank Reserve, North Nowra on the beautiful NSW South Coast:
“What a fantastic day yesterday hosting the Southern Region Sports and Community Dragon Boat Regatta.
On behalf of Nowra Waterdragons, I want to sincerely thank our club members, volunteers, officials, paddlers and participating clubs and community teams for helping make the day such a success.
I am incredibly proud that our small regional club was able to organise and run such a positive, welcoming and well-supported event for our paddling and wider community.
We extend our thanks to Marine Rescue Shoalhaven, Red Medical, Traffic Professionals, Northy Gym, our VIP guests, and all the vendors.
Thank you to everyone who contributed — on the water, on land, behind the scenes and in the lead-up, not forgetting today’s clean-up!
Days like this show the strength, generosity and spirit of our dragon boat community.”
