SOCIAL BOWLS - Sunday 13th Sept
The format for Sunday's social bowls was the popular computer run Russian Roulette. There was a very good attendance, as all the green fees were to be returned to members as prize money to the top three ranked players. As usual for the format, the 3 games of 6 ends saw the players rotate through the rinks forming new teams for each game. Once all the individual score cards were typed into the computer, the top three players for the afternoon were;
1st - Maurice Frank
2nd - Scott Farnell
3rd - Dennis McCann.

The next social bowls will be on Thursday 17th Sept with bowlers requested to be at the Club prior to 12.30pm.

PENNANT SEASON 2026-27
The Pennant season is rapidly approaching, starting with the first Midweek game being held on the 6th October, followed by Weekend competition on the Saturday 10th Oct. This season, the Club will compete with one side in Division 2 in the Midweek Pennant as per last season. In Weekend Pennant, even though Orbost won the Division 1 East Area Grand Final last season, the Club will not be able to enter a team in that Division due to the excessive travel requirements created by the Gippsland Bowling Region combining the North and East playing areas into a single playing area. The Club will instead play two sides in Division 3, which only plays within the east playing area.

SOCIAL BOWLS - Sunday 6th Sept
Winter was back for Sunday's social bowls with players agreeing to defer the scheduled afternoon of Russian Roulette to next Sunday incase they had to retreat from the green due to rain. The match committee quickly organised the bowlers into Fours to play two games of ten ends. As it happened, the rain held off, although the strong and very cold wind did not make for perfect bowling. There were two teams that won both of their games but after a countback, Bruce Kneebone's team of Trevor Hawkey, Ralph Harding and Dennis McCann took the honours for the afternoon, winning by 1 point. The next social bowls will be on Thursday 10th Sept and bowlers are requested to be at the Club prior to 12.30pm.

LAST DRILLS & SKILLS until next season
With the Pennant season rapidly approaching, Saturday morning saw the last Drills & Skills for now. While not particularly cold and with no wind, the weather was overcast and definitely very damp, with the session having to finish early due to rain. The coach, Ron Hatcher organised the same setup as for the previous week, where several rinks were set up, all with different bowling scenarios and as the bowlers rotated through the rinks, Ron would change the set up, effectively forcing the players to keep adjusting their bowling.

The Club would like to thank Ron for his assistance with organising and running Drills & Skills and also the members who took the time to attend each week.

Thursday 3rd September saw 2 games of 10 ends arranged for the 14 players who arrived. Anticipating beautiful spring weather .Wow were they disappointed 😞, with every end being played the clouds gathered, the wind picked up and the temperature dropped.
Unfortunately no winners photo is available.
Congratulations to Ron Hatcher(skip), Steve Shorten and Dennis McCann.

SOCIAL BOWLS - Sun 30th August
Spring came a couple of days early, bringing perfect bowling weather last Sunday for the first round of the latest Scroungers competition. Numbers were down, with several regulars still away, but even so, five of the seven rinks available were put to use. It proved to be a very tight scoring round, with the highest point scorers for the day being Geoff Lynn on 64, Bruce Kneebone on 62 and Gwen Hatcher on 61. The next social bowls will be Thursday 3rd Sept. Please remember the new later time with bowlers asked to be at the Club prior to 12.30pm.

DRILLS & SKILLS - Sat 29th Aug
The weather stayed with its normal Saturday format of sunny with a cool breeze for the Drills & Skills session. However, with several regulars away, it wasn't the temperature that kept numbers lower than usual. Ron Hatcher, the coach, used a different technique for the session, setting up several rinks, each with a different scenario. One was a long end while others had markers that the bowlers had to either go out and around or cut under to reach the jack, all whilst not cutting the head. The bowlers had to rotate through the various rinks with Ron adjusting the set ups from time to time. The last 30 minutes of the morning was a game between two teams, using two bowls to put what they had learned into practice. The next Drills & Skills will be on Sat 5th Sept.

SOCIAL BOWLS - Thursday 27th Aug
Despite beautiful sunshine, Thursday's social bowls was on the cool side, due to a chilly light breeze. The was still a good attendance of bowlers, even though several regulars were away. The bowlers were organised into teams of four and played the usual two games of ten ends. There was only one team who won both of their games, with the winners for the afternoon being Greg Rankin (s), Lyn O'Brien, Dennis McCann and Ron Hatcher.
The next social bowls will be Scroungers on Sunday 30th August. PLEASE NOTE: The starting time will revert to our summer times, with bowlers requested to be at the Club no later than 12.30pm.

SOCIAL BOWLS - Sunday 23rd August
Sunday's social bowls brought a very good attendance boosted by Phil Manning, a visitor from Bruthen. The weather was perfect although as usual lately, the breeze strengthened as the day progressed. The bowlers were organised primarily into Triples with one team of four to accommodate the number of bowlers. The matches were set as two games of ten ends. The winners for the day after a countback were Ron Hatcher (s), Phil Manning, Jan Lynn and Narelle Shorten.
The next social bowls will be on Thursday 27th August and bowlers are asked to be at the Club no later than 11.30am.
