It’s been about a month since and I started working on our no-gi judo skills, starting with footsweeps. In a surprisingly short amount of time, we’ve both improved quite noticeably. We have started introducing counters in our drills, to emulate a real randori (judo sparring) situation, but scaling up slowly to keep things safe. This was one of the many highlights of today’s session.

We’ve gone from isolated drilling of one or two moves to chaining them together with gradually more resistance and unpredictable movement from the opponent. It’s so fun and satisfying to see it all flowing and coming together, and new connections being formed between movements.
