A fuss about everything Football, from tactics to formations, and players to teams

My Football Fuss 08/07/2021

Possible weakness Italy can exploit against England in this Euro -
1. Back pass to Jordan Pickford's right foot.
2. Space between Kyle Walker and John Stones.
3. More chances of nicking the ball off Declan Rice
4. Suffer due to lower ball possession
5. Stopping crosses from the flanks

Positive observations for England through the Euro 2020 tournament -
1. Formation/system over players available
2. Brilliant pressing by Phillips and Rice
3. Freedom to take on defenders on the flanks
4. Spot-on substitutions
5. Willingness to get on the ball in the midfield

Did Manchester City let Leeds United dominate? – My Football Fuss 13/10/2020

When two teams coached by great visionaries play each other, there is always a lot to learn for a football fan.
Read my latest analysis to know if Manchester City let Leeds United dominate the game.

Did Manchester City let Leeds United dominate? – My Football Fuss Two great minds, two great coaches, and the mutual respect for each other made more headlines than the result itself. I think Manchester City went with a more conservative starting lineup from a personnel point of view than they should have. The question that I had was – is this in-form Leeds Unit...

Did Leicester City ‘park the bus’ against Manchester City? – My Football Fuss 30/09/2020

Did Leicester City Football Club ‘park the bus’ in their win against Manchester City? Find out more in my article - https://bit.ly/34g7bv0

Did Leicester City ‘park the bus’ against Manchester City? – My Football Fuss The beauty of the Premier League is the variety of opponents it offers to any team. Every week there is a different kind of playing style that the team has to adopt to. From a team like Leeds United who will man mark the players all over the field to a team like Wolves that is so well organised, pow...

The mentality is key here. Frustration is often seen as weakness, but it also confirms player’s realisation of the consequence. Don’t think Alexandre Lacazette Officiel needs reminding or analysis of the chances he missed. What matter is how well he comes back for this season.

Player in focus – James Rodriguez – My Football Fuss 24/09/2020

Football is a team sport, but a team is made of players. While all players are important, some are special. This week's special player in focus is James Rodriguez of Everton Football Club

Player in focus – James Rodriguez – My Football Fuss The first touch of a player is probably the most important skill a player can have. Some players naturally have a great first touch, while some players work hard on developing this skill. It is unusual to see a player who has played for big clubs in Europe and isn’t in his late 30s, sign for Evert...

Picture of the week - Bukayo Saka about to play a defence splitting pass to for Arsenal’s winner. Great movement inside with the ball, superb vision and ability to execute the pass.

Leeds United – First Impression – My Football Fuss 15/09/2020

"Of course I value the rebellion of the team, we also stopped Liverpool from playing as well as they usually do".
Check out my blog on why Marcelo Bielsa said this, post Leeds United opening match against Liverpool FC

Leeds United – First Impression – My Football Fuss The promotion of Leeds United to top-flight football in England has been widely celebrated for two reasons – a club of the size of Leeds United and their head coach, Marcelo Bielsa. A widely celebrated and respected coach is a great business by Leeds United, and promotion is a well-derserved rewar...

A big-money signing will always have high expectations to perform. nicholas.pepe19 showed what a good player he is in the second half of the season. Both the goals and assists stats show that he is equally good in dead-ball situations as he is during the open play. Notably, every cross/long ball assist he's provided was to Aubameyang Pierre-Emerick, and to make this stat even more interesting, all of them were under .
Also, his numbers are not bad when compared to other wide attacking players in the Premier League. And knowing last season was his first at Arsenal, he would want to continue the good form into this season.

The most disciplined Arsenal in recent times – My Football Fuss 10/09/2020

Against a team that is strong on counter-attacks, Arsenal's defensive discipline turned out to be the difference against Wolverhampton Wanderers FC last season. Sharing another of my old article before the new Premier League season.

The most disciplined Arsenal in recent times – My Football Fuss A result that is backed by performance, Arsenal scored a goal in each half to secure the victory. But the timing of the first goal, just before the half ends was crucial. Arsenal didn’t create many chances in the first half mainly due to Wolves’ defensive set-up which was different from Arsenal....
