Add 5 MPH to Your Throwing Velocity: The 5-Phase Roadmap 21/07/2026

“Add 5 MPH” Roadmap: Mechanics, Mobility, Strength, Power, Recovery

Key Takeaways - Velocity is a chain, not a switch — mechanics, mobility, strength, and power each depend on the one before it, and skipping a phase breaks the whole sequence. - Fix your delivery before you load it — adding strength or weighted-ball work on top of broken mechanics just makes the leak (or the injury risk) bigger. - Mobility sets your ceiling — without thoracic, hip, and shoulder range of motion, added strength has nowhere to go and gets rerouted to your elbow or lower back....

Add 5 MPH to Your Throwing Velocity: The 5-Phase Roadmap The 5-phase order that actually adds throwing velocity: mechanics, mobility, strength, power, recovery. Skip a phase and progress stalls.

Mass = Gas sure, but what if you’re not that big?

Marcus Stroman throws hard, because he gets a high % of his mass into each pitch. Bigger guys with more natural “mass” don’t throw as hard because they aren’t as good at taking their mass and strength/power onto the field.

That’s the difference between our velocity programs and others, the focus on getting the gym to the field.

Should Mike Trout Switch To Cricket?

Thanks McMullin for bringing this to my attention. This movement is really common in cricket-almost every player does it, every ball that’s bowled. In fact, a lot was made (here in Australia) of the fact Travis Bazzana was a good cricketer growing up. I wonder if the extra practice of this movement played a role in him getting drafted #1? I also wonder whether the increasing amount of movement on pitches, will see more players adopt this move to try and get to a better hitting position in the box?
