Big love and thanks to the Blak Markets for inviting us to connect, share and dance with your community. 🖤💛❤️

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our storytelling and dance workshop — we loved sharing culture, stories and movement with you all.

A special moment with Uncle Elvis with our Brolgas before sharing our culture, songs and dances at the Blak Markets. Words of wisdom, courage and guidance from our Elders. 🔥🖤💛❤️🔥

Our Founder & Artistic Director, Jodie Welsh, recently travelled to Alice Springs as a finalist in the Creative Talent Award at the 2026 National NAIDOC Awards.

While Jodie didn’t take home the award, being recognised on a national stage alongside so many incredible First Nations people was an absolute honour. To be in a room filled with so much Blak excellence, culture, strength and achievement was something truly special.

A huge congratulations to all the deadly finalists and winners across every category — what an incredible celebration of our people and our achievements. 👏🏽🖤💛❤️

We came home with full hearts — proud, grateful and inspired to keep doing the work, sharing culture and creating pathways for our next generation.

And of course, a special shoutout to Ngumpie Weaving for Jodie’s deadly custom-made hat and Freestyle Weaving for the gorgeous custom-made bag and necklace! 🔥🙌🏽

🖤💛❤️ Something special is brewing in the studio… Our Brolga Elite Songwoman, Wirrindah, in the studio being mentored by the deadly Dyagula.

Just two Gomeroi women sharing culture, knowledge, voice and stories — working together on something very special. 👀🎶

We loved having Aunty Taryn in the studio, sharing and connecting with our Brolgas as one of our Elders and knowledge holders.

Our Traditional class had the opportunity to dance for Aunty Taryn, receiving her guidance, feedback and a deeper understanding of the stories behind what they are learning. She also spent time with our Brolga Elites, sharing her knowledge through drumming, rhythm and dance.

These moments are so important — our Elders and knowledge holders guiding our young ones, sharing knowledge and keeping Culture strong.

Culture, connection & guidance across generations.🖤💛❤️ 💚💙🖤🤍

Congratulations to Bindi from our Junior Aboriginal Contemporary class, recipient of the Mirii Yanan Award! 🖤💛❤️

Bindi’s dedication, focus and passion for dance have seen her grow tremendously in technique, connection and choreography. Her determination to keep learning, improving and pushing herself is deadly to see.

Keep shining and growing, Bindi — we are so proud of you! 🌟

Looking for more than just a dance class for your young one?

At Brolga Dance Academy, our students don’t just learn steps, shuffling or stomping — they connect with culture, community, identity and each other while building confidence and growing as young performers.

Term 4 kicks off 15 October 2026 and takes us all the way through to our biggest event of the year — Brolga Yugal Yulu-gi, our 5th Annual Showcase at Carriageworks!

Enrol in Term 4 and your young one will have the opportunity to learn, rehearse and prepare to take the stage alongside the Brolga FamBam at our annual showcase. 🔥

We offer Little Brolgas Cultural Dance, Aboriginal Contemporary, Traditional Dance and our Brolga Elite Program, with classes available from 4 years through to adults.

Whether they’re stepping into the studio for the first time or ready to take their dancing further, there’s a place for them at Brolga.

Dance. Culture. Community. Connection.
