🇦🇺 Stewart McSweyn can immediately see the bigger picture after finishing without a medal.

"7th at an Olympic Games is nothing to be too angry about. I gave it everything. The six guys that beat me were just too good and I’m just gonna have to keep working to get better," he told Channel 7 after his race.

"I know every time I go back I’ve got huge support. I see every message from the King Islanders. I see them all packed into the local pub as well so yeah I definitely feel the support."

His time of 3:31.91 would have won gold in every other Olympic final in history.

"Definitely that last lap when I was hurting I was gritting my teeth thinking about everyone who’s put in work up to this point for my career. I wanted to give it 100 per cent and kinda give it everything I had for them so I felt like I did that so I’ve gotta be happy with the final result."
