Stop comparing your current self to who you were 10 or 20 years ago. That mindset can rob you of joy in your present fitness journey. Instead, celebrate how far you’ve come and enjoy the process of growing, learning, and evolving. Fitness is a lifelong journey — honor every chapter.

Vitamin D & TRT a missing link?

Starting TRT to feel better—more energy, sharper focus, stronger workouts? Great. But there might be a missing piece: vitamin D.

A 2025 study in Nutrients found that men with healthy vitamin D levels (30+ ng/mL) saw better metabolic results from TRT—like improved insulin sensitivity, lower LDL cholesterol, and reduced inflammation. Those low in D? Not so much.

Why does this matter? If you're on TRT to feel and function better, your vitamin D status might be the key to unlocking its full potential.

So what can you do?

1. Get tested: Ask for a 25‑OH vitamin D blood test.

2. Get some sun: 15–20 minutes a few times a week helps.

3. Eat smarter: Think fatty fish, egg yolks, and fortified foods.

4. Supplement if needed: D3 can help, but check with your doctor.

TRT works best with the right support—and vitamin D is a simple, often-overlooked part of that puzzle.

Reversing My Diabetes - Day 4 (Metformin Update)

Today, I’m focused on starting to lower my blood sugar levels with the help of metformin, a commonly recommended supplement for managing diabetes.

Metformin works in two main ways:

šŸ”„It reduces how much glucose is released from the liver, where it's stored.
šŸ”„It helps my body’s cells absorb more glucose from the bloodstream.

I’ll be on this medication until my blood sugar levels are back in a healthy range. My goal is to eventually manage my diabetes without lifelong reliance on meds, unlike so many diabetics.

Tomorrow, I’ll dive into the training aspect and how it’s impacting my glucose levels—stay tuned!

I’m in SHOCK – I Have Type 2 Diabetes

A few days ago, I went in for my annual checkup, thinking it would just be routine.

Instead, I got hit with some unexpected news: I have Type 2 diabetes.

Honestly, I was shocked. I mean, 1.2 million people in Australia have it, so it’s not exactly uncommon.

But what threw me was this: I’ve trained consistently for 27 years, I don’t eat sweets, drink sugary sodas, or indulge in junk food. My meals are unprocessed, and I’ve i dont have a massive GUT.

When most people think of diabetes, the image is often someone overweight, not someone who trains regularly and looks after their health.

Naturally, I asked my doctor how this could happen to me. And that’s when it hit home—it runs in the family. My dad, uncles, and grandfather were diagnosed with diabetes in their 20s.

The doctor told me that making it this far without developing it was a testament to how much my lifestyle had delayed the inevitable. Essentially, if I hadn’t been so committed to my health, it might have hit me years earlier.

Life Doesn’t Always Play Fair
No matter how hard we work at taking care of ourselves, life can still throw us a curveball. I won’t lie; the diagnosis was a bit of a shock, but I’m over it now. It’s just another challenge to overcome.

Now, I’ll adjust my lifestyle and work with my doctor to manage it—and beat it.

But this experience made me realize how important regular checkups are, especially as we get older. Even if you feel fine, it’s worth checking under the hood. You never know what might be quietly developing, and catching it early could make all the difference.

Don’t Ignore Your Checkups
I get it—most of us think, "I feel fine, so why bother?" But it’s moments like these that make you realize that good health isn’t just about how you look or feel today. It’s about catching things early, even when you’re fit and active.

So, guys, if you’re over 40, make those appointments. It might feel unnecessary, but it could save your life. Take it from me—you never know what’s happening beneath the surface.

Symptoms of poor gut health in men over 40

As a holistic optimisation coach, I see how gut health is crucial for overall well-being, particularly for men over 40. Many overlook the connection between digestive health and physical signs of imbalance. Here are three key indicators:

1. Digestive Issues: Symptoms like bloating, gas, and irregular bowel movements are often dismissed. These can signal an imbalance in gut bacteria, leading to discomfort and low energy. Addressing diet and incorporating probiotics can lead to significant improvements.

2. Skin Problems: Issues like acne and eczema often reflect underlying gut imbalances. A healthy gut microbiome helps reduce inflammation, which can result in clearer skin. I emphasize a balanced diet rich in whole foods to support both gut and skin health.

3. Fatigue and Sleep Disturbances: Many men experience fatigue and poor sleep, attributing it to stress. However, gut health plays a key role in nutrient absorption and energy levels. Focusing on nutrition and stress management can enhance both energy and sleep quality.

By prioritizing gut health, men can improve their overall well-being, leading to better physical and mental performance. If you need a hand with this shoot us DM
