Cronulla Sharks coach Shane Flanagan to be deregistered after NRL Integrity Unit investigation

The Cronulla Sharks will be on the lookout for a new coach for the 2019 season when the NRL sensationally rubs Shane Flanagan out of the game indefinitely.

An NRL investigation found Flanagan regularly ignored the strict terms of the 12-month ban imposed on him over Cronulla’s peptide scandal.

Knights snare their Mann

Kurt Mann will meet with the Newcastle Knights today and sign a two to three year deal.

Mann was released from the final year of his St George-Illawarra Dragons deal and could join Newcastle Knights' pre-season training as early as Tuesday, reports the Newcastle Herald.

The former Melbourne Storm speedster spent some in the ho**er role last season behind Cameron McInnes, also shuffling between five-eighth, centre and wing.

Queensland Reds winger Izaia Perese has signed a training replacement contract with the Brisbane NRL club via their affiliate Redcliffe Dolphins and is likely to win a full-time deal.

Hailed by Qantas Wallabies coach Michael Cheika just 12 months ago for "killing it" in a Wallabies touring squad, Perese now has a chance to work his way into the Brisbane Broncos playing squad.

Robert Jennings’ future at the South Sydney Rabbitohs looks to be over before it really began. The Rabbitohs have informed their leading try scorer for 2018 that he is not required for 2019.

Jennings is currently off contract and it is believed his asking price is more then the Rabbitohs can afford. Wayne Bennett aims to have Greg Inglis return to the fullback position and move Alex Johnston to the wing, which would make Jennings not required at Redfern.

Cronulla insist a deal with Shane Flanagan is imminent as he prepares to become the longest-serving coach at the Cronulla Sharks.

Flanagan is off-contract at the end of 2019 but his future is seen as being up in the air as the club’s salary cap investigation continues to swirl.

It’s been reported the Sharks could choose not to renew his contract if the NRL’s investigation’s findings are unfavourable and that illegal payments were made to players.

South Sydney Rabbitohs player George Burgess says he is no eye gouger, describing an incident that earned him a four-match ban as a “misunderstanding”.

Burgess admits he is still upset over missing the first three rounds of the next NRL season after being found guilty of gouging New Zealand Kiwis’ Dallin Watene-Zelezniak last month in EnglandRL’s second Test win.

Coach Daryl Gibson has turned to Griffin to help with his side’s attack ahead of the 2019 Super Rugby season and already the former Penrith Panthers and Brisbane Broncos mentor is proving a hit.

Sacked by the Panthers a month before this year’s NRL finals, Griffin jumped at the chance to run a half hour session with the Waratahs backs in Sydney.

Manly NRL star Dylan Walker has been stood down from training after being charged with assault following an alleged domestic violence incident involving his partner on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.

The woman, 24, suffered minor cuts to her shoulder, leg and feet at a home in Dee Why, on Thursday afternoon after an altercation regarding a video game and was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Walker, also 24, was later arrested and charged with common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
