One down and a fabric decision needed for the next block, as I’m finding the caramel stripe is a bit flat and my block may need a pop of red!! Perhaps it’s being surrounded but the ‘red rocks’ in the Bay of Fires that has me thinking red! Staying at Binalong Bay 🐚🦀🦞Tasmania 💞💞

Not a lot of stitching done in the last day, however I’m keen to continue working on my ‘Dutch mariners compass’ block now that we’ve arrived at our dear little cottage with lovely wood fire
On the way, a visit to , a fab street lined with palm trees 🌴 💞🌴💞🌴 in Launceston, great coffee at the ‘Muddy Boots cafe’, local 😋😋crayfish lunch with a view at Stanley. It’s been a busy couple of days but what strikes me most about Tasmania so far is the beautiful trees and the very green countryside!

Vintage Dilly Bag is now on my website as a downloadable pattern. A lovely mid-size bag to make for all your sewing bits using favourite vintage fabric scraps. I’ve sewn mine all by hand over 3 evenings but you could easily speed up the process on the machine!
I’ve also uploaded the pattern for the large ‘Dresden Sewing Bag’ so you can choose between the two or simply make both!! I did!!

Planning a little project with vintage French fabrics from and

I’ve long been collecting vintage fabrics it’s about time I started using them! Also dreaming up a quilt pattern that would show these to their best advantage…. we don’t want to chop them up too much!! So, if you too have a collection of vintage bits, stay posted for some quilt inspo.

Slowly coming together: ‘Linen and Liberty’ quilt. Corner block hearts and Milky Way star clusters still to appliqué, but I have cut the final borders which will feature a vine appliqué.

Yesterdays class saw some fabulous finishes and WIPs - Katynka has finished the centre of ‘Avignon’ quilt, with star border well on the way! Diane’s same pattern swapping out the 5/8” hexagons for 2” hexagons makes for a much larger quilt; ‘St Rémy’ quilt top in men’s shirtings ready for backing by Tomoko and a finished-ready-for-granddaughter ‘Sweet Madeleine’ quilt made by Ange! Beautiful work all round!!

Patterns on my website

I’ve been hand piecing the first borders for the ‘Linen and Liberty’ quilt over the last couple of weeks. I know I could zip through it on the machine, however it just sits more softly when done by hand. I may even give it a press at some point!
