Finished in the nick of time for our little man’s birthday in a few days! A quilt for a 4th generation ‘frenchie’ incorporating clothing memories from great-grandparents, great aunts, grandparents, mother and friends! All the bright colours of traditional Provençal fabrics and hand quilted.

Having a play today with a vintage French pelmet which is out of the storage tubs to be reborn as a lamp shade! Measured and cut to fit around, I will hand stitch it over the existing frame leaving all its wonderful hand-stitched brass rings in place as part of its history. And it could still end up as a pelmet again one day!!

A spot of quilting on a lazy Sunday afternoon… making progress on a quilt in Provençal fabrics for the little man in our family turning 1 in a couple of weeks! Better get a hurry on!!

Not one, but 2 fabulous “(good golly) Miss Molly” quilts join the “finished” pile in Wednesday’s class👏🏻👏🏻💃🏻💃🏻!!
This quilt is a delight to make with just the right mix of EPP, hand piecing, a little appliqué and some fussy cutting of motifs to add interest!

Last glorious finished quilt from our Blue Mountains retreat, and I’ve completely forgotten who made this beauty!
It’s a pattern I drafted from an antique quilt owned by our darling Marion Gisela Drake who sadly is no longer with us. I named it “Maid Marion of Kent” in her honour.
The pattern is on my website. Apart from the simple centre appliqué, the quilt is machine pieced and features traditional fabrics in the 5 borders.

Enjoying the chilly air Glenella Grand Heritage House with our sewing group where high achiever Libby has almost finished her spectacular ‘Linen and Liberty’ quilt! I’ve been very slow with getting my final borders done with other work commitments, but Libby has forged ahead. The pattern will be released when I can photograph the whole quilt, so please be patient as there’s more to come with a ‘Van Dyke’ edge!

And that’s a wrap for a very busy few days with the lovely ‘sewing sisters’
