I am courageous.
I am vulnerable.
A short clip from my chat with on the where she asked me what my affirmations for the week were. I hope you can find the time to listen to this clip as i believe it has a really powerful message for everyone.
Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below đŸ€đŸ™đŸ»

Most of the time, It’s your imagination that runs wild, not your life. Perhaps it’s time to free yourself from your own self destructive mind show. Seriously. Take a breathe. Feel the air fill your lungs. That’s all the reassurance you need that you are safe. Now, go and rewrite your story. Create something more fulfilling and pleasant. Everyone tells their self a story. Why make it so fu***ng catastrophic. You’ll never find the sunlight at the bottom of an imaginary trench.

Exercise is not a fat burning machine!
It’s an energy regulator.
Exercising reduces the amount of energy we give to growth, inflammation and immunity. If we don’t exercise, we have an excess of energy for these functions.
And that’s bad.
Too much energy for growth
 cancer.
Too much for inflammation
 heart disease.
Too much for immunity
 autoimmune disease.
Exercise is prescribed as medicine because it prevents disease through energy regulation.
You can’t exercise when you’re really sick, because now the body needs all the energy it can get to heal and recover and fight back.
By then it may be too late.
That’s “the why” you should exercise today.
The body will burn energy regardless if you do or don’t exercise. Your brain, liver, heart, kidneys and the rest, they don’t just sit there idling and saving fuel until you start exercising. They never stop!
It’s the “how does your body burn energy” that is important to our health, longevity and yes, fat mass.
Your calories burned over a year barely changes regardless of exercise hours, why? Because those that train more often need to rest more, balance is what the body needs to stay strong and healthy.
What changes is the functionality of the systems within the body and the functionality of the cells within those systems and that determines how and where the energy is distributed.
Stop thinking about exercise and calories on a day to day or session by session basis. Think as your body does, think in weeks, months and years. Frequency and consistency matters far more than the calories on your smart watch, so value those parameters more.

When i as playing AFL as a 9 year old, my friends father, Dennis our Coach that year, once got me to stand at the front of the team and said “if you ever want to follow someone, follow Jānis, he’ll run through brick walls for you.” It’s something that my close school mates have reminded me about all my life and i just kind of laugh it off every time it’s mentioned by them. I was just a skinny blonde kid that always had a lot of self belief and tenacity, i certainly wasn’t brave.

I feel like we shouldn’t be so quick to get down on ourselves and feel like we’re just having a s**t week. These are often the best weeks for us. They force you, through challenge and discomfort, to make decisions, choices, actions and reactions. Without these tough moments I’m pretty sure we’d all just be staying in the comfort lane avoiding making tough calls until god knows when, achieving well below our potential, missing amazing new opportunities and avoiding pain until it’s unavoidable, which is often the worst pain of all.

It was in my own willingness to want to find walls to run through all my life, like my solo hiking expedition, that has forged my resilience to keep on running through them all.

So for anyone having a tough time, take it all in, especially all the negative energy and use it positively to run through whatever wall stands in front of you. You can do it. Believe in yourself. See it unfold in your minds eye and then crush it. Don’t let it hold you back, don’t let it defeat you, don’t let it tarnish your future.

Every wall you run through only makes you stronger, because what grows within you when the bricks fall down around you is your greatest power of all, self belief.

Trust me, you will remember every brick that’s fallen and those memories are what make you stronger.
Believe in yourself.
You are unstoppable and you are ready.

A message for anyone out there that suffers from bouts of anxiety and depression.

I use slow running (and by slow i mean slow, easy and comfortable) as my medicine, my form of meditation and my powerful tool for reducing the noise around me and getting in touch with my inner mind so i can deal with what’s going on upstairs.

I think of myself as a healer for so many, but that doesn’t mean that I’m immune to the same natural tendencies and weight as everyone else. I’ve dealt with stuff my whole life. Im such a passive human but i used to put my fists through my cupboard doors and cover the holes with posters as a teenager but i found the power of running not long after, it was my healer, i just didn’t realise how it was all connected. So slow it down. Run with your thoughts and set them free âœŒđŸ»

If you think I’m here to let you get away with excuses, you’re wrong. I’m not afraid to go to the dark places with you.

I’m gonna ask you to be accountable to yourself.

If i didn’t, i wouldn’t be an honest Coach, and i certainly wouldn’t be a great Friend.

I’d be of little value to you, and you to me.

It’s easy for me to distract your mind for an hour with physical discomfort and be an account you pay money to for helping you forget about life for a brief moment.

That’s not me. Not my purpose and not what makes me feel good about myself at the end of the day.

Earth Day 🌎 đŸŒ± How often do you reduce the noise of life to the bare minimum and just let your senses commit to you and the Earth?

Believe me, there is no television, iPhone,
tablet that can give you what our planet can. There is no watch, monitor or app that can feel you like you can. Make the time to turn off the noise every once in a while. It will bring you peace, clarity and an abundance of energy.

Leave a â€ïžđŸŒŽ if you love our planet Earth

The scale of change isn’t always visible to the naked eye.

The clouds are always changing but only if you look up will you see them, if you don’t, you’ll only notice the sun and the storm.

To see change in some things can take time but it’s always happening, it’s just not always present in our conscious mind.

Whatever it is you are working on, keep going. Even if you can’t see the progress, trust your effort, as long as you keep trying then you are always taking a positive step.

A weak body can't support a strong mind and a strong body can't carry a weak mind.

To train both, you need movement.

a good coach helps too đŸ€“

Smarter, stronger, safer.

Nothing stimulates the growth and regeneration of our brain more than movement and nothing prevents the onset of brain decay and disease more than learning through movement.

Movement is the most transformative tool we have for constructing and rewiring our neural pathways (neural plasticity).

If we choose to keep moving frequently then age is no barrier to an enriched & healthy life.

We have created a modern day environment that we weren't built for and it's impacting us all one cell at a time.

So much about our modern environment produces loads across and upon our body that our DNA did not evolve to support for long durations. We are resilient beings so we can tolerate these unnatural loads for a while but eventually our cells, tissues and organs breakdown as a consequence of our modern day conformity.

Obesity, sickness and chronic inflammation are as much a byproduct of our lazy, oops! "efficient' environment as poor nutrition and sleep. Studies and common sense, tell us that frequent, varied movement is as critical to the nourishment of our cellular health as the oxygen in the air we breathe and the nutrients we consume. It literally makes s**t happen! It circulates our fluids, drives our metabolism, removes our waste and exchanges our gases.

Unfortunately as a society we fail to recognise that our pain and ill health have everything to do with our modern stagnant environment. We often express ailments as unlucky or genetic or 'something I've always had'.

But that sore knee, bloating, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, cancer, anxiety, depression are more likely to be a consequence of something as small as wearing shoes or holding our phones to sitting for long durations at school or work, repetition of poor movement patterns or even high repetition of good movement with little variance. All of these will lead to imbalances within the tensegrity framework of our fascia and mechanotransduction interactions, leading to excessive strain and stress on certain cells, tissues, and organs that ultimately impact our health wayyyy more than variances in our "genetics".

Now more than ever we need to move more and express our movement capabilities in as many different ways as possible. Swim, run, jump, throw, climb, kick, dance... do it all!!!

And start young because unfortunately the reduction of kinesthetic learning in our school environments means this vital element of learning and health in our youth is setting us up for debilitating habits in our adult lives.
