HMI lights were originally developed for the film industry, to give a consistent, glare free but powerful light, which approached the light characteristics of daylight, (6000Kelvin) and left fewer shadows. Most portable lighting use metal halide light sources which result in a yellowish unnatural light. George Ossolinski, CEO of Lunar Lighting, saw the potential beyond the film industry.
