Congratulations to my amazing partner and Amateur Boxer who recently reached 80 Amateur boxing bouts!
Here's a photo from this years Nationals where she won her 7th National title, and was awarded best female boxer of the tournament
Fun fact: 7 National Titles is the 3rd most won by a single individual in the history New Zealand Womans Boxing, making her the 3rd most winning Woman's Champion of all time here in NZ 🤯🤯🤯
Next she eyes up Olympic qualifiers in November 🥊

I love getting messages like this after competition!
Absolutely massive effort recently by .gus who won Bronze at Oceania Championships for wrestling! A big achievement alone, but especially as an athlete that primarily does MMA
Our goal for training is always to transfer optimally to competition and this doesn't happen by accident. It requires in depth knowledge of the sport and manipulating the right variables for the individual, and at the right times.
Combat sports are a complex puzzle with many variables that need to be accounted for. If you're an athlete with serious competition aspirations I'd encourage you to consult a professional to help guide this process 👊

Amazing opportunity this week to fly over to Sydney to help the team for their amature mma fights
Both fighters answered the call, on a weeks notice, dispite having come off prep for other combat based sports
We didn't get the nod, but the learnings and lessons across the board have been massive and the XP bar for these two increases
Combat Sports are a true passion of mine and as a coach, the constant question I ask is 'what actually matters' in the context of competition performance. Experiences like these provide the greatest opportunity of getting closer to answering that question.
Thank you for having me 🙏

Not sure what to do on fight week?
Here's some information to help you understand tapering and how you can implement it for better fight night performance
One important note is this is targeted towards high priority events. Not every event should be prioritized and tapered for especially if you're someone who competes regularly. Understanding this concept is crucial to planning and effective training for the competitive combat athlete.
If you have any questions around this, or are interested in implementing a better scientific approach to your planning or gym based work flick me a message 🥊

2022 Boxing Nationals ✅️
Massive congratulations to our longstanding S&C team from and from for some amazing performances at NZ Boxing National Champs. The whole team made it through into the finals securing their placings as #1 or #2 in NZ in their elite open divisions.
Its always a privilege to be at events like this. It serves as a learning opportunity, but also a reminder of what's important.
Combat sports performance preparation is complex and requires alot of attention in many areas, both physically and mentally. It's truly a special thing to see it come together.
Can't wait to see what's next for the team 💪💪💪

Great experience heading over to Australian Golden Gloves the other week with
This was my second trip across the ditch in as many months and it's been amazing to witness the level of combat sport our side of the world has to offer.
Both potent learning experiences and lessons I'm excited to apply back home 🙂
Great results for the team as well!
