Did you know 🚙
Before Jaguar became Jaguar… they were called Swallow Sidecars — or simply SS.

After WWII, that name didn’t exactly age well…
so the company rebranded, and that’s how the name Jaguar was born.

And this car comes right from that transition era.

This is the Jaguar XK140, built between 1954 and 1957 —
and it wasn’t just a simple update from the XK120.

Jaguar refined almost everything.
It kept the same 3.4L straight-six engine, but power went up to around 190–210 horsepower.

But here’s something most people don’t know…
they actually moved the engine forward — not for performance, but just to give the driver more legroom.

It also introduced rack-and-pinion steering, along with improved brakes and suspension, making it feel far more modern to drive.

Top speed? Around 120 mph (193 km/h) — seriously quick for the 1950s.

👉 This is the successor to the XK120…
but more importantly, it represents a completely new identity.

Jaguar SS
Pre 1945 or pre world war 2. Jaguar was known as Swallow Side Cars, or SS.
After world war 2 the name SS held many negative connotations and the name was changed to Jaguar.
The Jag SS 100 was named by both names and the world’s first car to do 100 miles an hr. These vehicles came with either a 2.5 litre or a later 3.5litre. With along bonnet, brilliant curves and distinctive lights and grille.
