Notice to the Community
With regret, we advise that NSW GAA has made the decision to disband the NSW Youth Subcommittee.
The subcommittee has very much enjoyed working on establishing a grassroots program and developing a framework for the long-term advancement of GAA for children in NSW.
While this is a disappointing step, our subcommittee remains committed to exploring and supporting growth in grassroots GAA in our state.
This website and its linked social media accounts will be placed on hold until further notice.

Youth GAA NSW isn’t new, but we’re just getting started. 🙌
From first kicks to a full calendar, we’ve watched Gaelic Games spark connection, confidence and cultural pride across Sydney. 🇦🇺
In 2024 we put roots down with successful camps, skilled coaches and strong community backing.

🇮🇪Our first Gaelic Word of The Week is: spraoi (pronounced spree) — fun, play, enjoyment.
In Gaelic Games, spraoi isn’t just about kicking a ball or scoring a point. It’s the belly laughs on the sideline, the smiles when you nail a skill, and the friendships that stick long after the whistle blows.
No matter where you’re from or what you’ve played before, there’s always room for more spraoi on the pitch. 💚🧡
Have you had spraoi this week?

📣 The Gaelic Breakdown starts here…
Each week we’re diving into the games, gear and Gaeilge that make Gaelic sport so special — and we’re kicking off with one of Ireland’s wildest traditions:
🏑 What is Hurling?
It’s fast ⚡
It’s fierce 💪
It’s been played for over 3,000 years 🇮🇪
Hurling is Ireland’s ancient stick and ball game — played with a hurley (camán) and a sliotar (that little white rocket ball).
You’ll strike, catch, solo and run — all in one play. It’s fast, skilful and seriously fun.
At Youth GAA NSW, we teach it the beginner-friendly way — no pressure, just movement, mateship and culture.
👟 No experience needed
