At the closing ceremony of the ROITA Open 2025 – Tashen Borah Memorial Cup, the Champion and Runner-up trophies were presented in a moment filled with pride, gratitude, and remembrance. These trophies were lovingly donated by the family in cherished memory of Late Dandeswar Dutta.

It was a deeply emotional honour to have the trophies handed over by his grandson, Master Nirbhik Dutta of ROITA Tennis Academy , symbolising the beautiful continuity of values, passion, and sporting spirit across generations.

In Loving Memory of Late Dandeswar Dutta

Late Dandeswar Dutta, father of Pohar Dutta and the only son of Late Kumud Ch Dutta of Golaghat, was a man of rare versatility and excellence. From an early age, he displayed remarkable academic brilliance, especially in Mathematics and English, alongside an extraordinary talent for sports.

A distinguished table tennis player of the state Assam and an engineering college champion, he was among the pioneers who laid the foundation for the growth and development of table tennis in Golaghat. His dedication, discipline, and commitment to the sport helped strengthen the region’s sporting culture and inspired many young athletes to pursue excellence.

He lived a life driven by values, learning, and love for sport — a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
