BAROSSA SQUASH AT THE WORLD MASTERS!
Our very own Club President, Rob Browne, is currently in Perth representing himself and Barossa Squash at the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships - the World Masters haven't been held in Australia for 21 years!
Rob has had a fantastic tournament and, by his own admission, a great experience:
Round 1: Defeated Arthur from Hon Kong
11-5, 11-5, 11-3
Round 2: Took on four-time World Masters Champion John Macrury from the Cayman Islands.
Rob described this as his absolute best match, feeling great on court, but eventually went down 5-11, 8-11, 8-11
Round 3: Defeated Maurice from the Gold Coast
11-8, 11-5, 11-7
Final match: A tough one against an opponent whose style proved particularly difficult for Rob.
After taking the first game 13-11, Rob lost 5-11, 9-11, 4-11
A 2-2 match record at a World Master Championship is a fantastic effort, particularly against international competition.
And there is a great connection to the tournament as Rob's opponent John Macrury has progressed through to the final. Could we be looking at a fifth World Master title for John?
Congratulations Rob! A great effort, a memorable experience and another example of Barossa Squash being represented on the world stage.
