Looking for a pre-workout that is easy quick and doesn't contain heaps of nasties? Well I thought I would share one that I recommend to my ladies (particularly those who train first thing in the morning).

This contains real coffee (which taken 30 minutes before a workout will give you that little kick you need), a small amount of both protein and carbs so you can go hard, not feel sick.

Anyway - have attached below. (You can change the milk for water if you want - my preference is almond milk)

So today is benchmark testing day before we build our next 12 week strength block. 4 big moves - 2 levels. Benchmark testing is not about how much better you are than somebody else. We use it to see where improvements can be made, to help us program our classes for our group client base to help them improve in the areas where they may need some help. Even for those who do the higher level benchmark testing, we can find the little things that help them move better, get fitter, and be stronger. I can't wait to see what the next block of training brings.

Wow who finished this year feeling like they have been hit by a train? Nothing unusual. If you have been trying to keep up with life and training then this is a very highly likely feeling for you now.

So I wanted to talk about thinking more about what to do when you are feeling like that with your training.

So many people just think that they have to go hard all the time and I get it - it is that euphoria of training. It is a hormonal response. However, feeling sore in the joints, feeling like you have to drag yourself around or feeling like you need to give up, could mean that you just don't have the right program.

So here's something for you to try. Replace one of your workouts with a recovery workout - whether that be a movement based workout, yoga etc. And see if you can feel the difference.

Not another challenge.
Not because challenges are “bad”… but because most of them are built to give you a short-term win that you can’t actually live with.

If you’re stuck losing the same 20kg over and over, the problem isn’t your willpower.
It’s the model.

Fast loss → aggressive restriction → burnout → rebound → “I’ll start again Monday.”

That cycle (weight cycling / yo-yo dieting) is linked with worse cardiometabolic outcomes including increased risk signals for things like type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and mortality.

Our philosophy is boring in the best way:
Train for the body you want to have in 5 years.
Not the body you want to squeeze into in 5 weeks.
