We are off to one of my favourite annual meetings today at Ewan Races with 2 runners.

Tower’s Hill ran a super 4th for us first up at Bowen last week and is going to have to show some dash in the Maiden over 820m.

Then Better Breakout will be hoping to keep improving on his consistent record in the QTIS BM65 1300m.

It looked like there was a huge crowd there yesterday and I’m looking forward to see a lot of friends and friendly faces there today.

Good luck and safe racing to all 💚🖤💙

We are off down the road to Bowen Turf Club with 3 runners today.

Knuckles is stepping out in a small field in the BM68 1470m and is hoping to build on his last start 3rd at Cairns Jockey Club.

Then the one so many of us have been waiting patiently for - Tony the Pony finally has his first race for the team in the Maiden 1000m. His owners have shown a tremendous amount of faith in us and Tony as he has come up against a few hurdles since arriving last year but it will be great to finally see him hit the track!

Then Bandit rounds out the crew in the Class 3 1200m. He will be nice and fresh for the shorter distance.

Good luck and safe racing to all 💚💙🤍🖤

Just checking in to ask, R U OK? 💛

Life’s a tough gig and racing can be one hell of a roller coaster. One minute you’re on top of the world, the next you’re questioning every decision you make and wondering if you’re even good enough to be doing it. Imposter syndrome is very real, even when things are going well.

Behind every trainer, jockey, strapper, owner and smiling winner’s photo is someone dealing with things we probably know nothing about.

So check in on your mates, and if you’re the one having a rough trot, reach out. Sometimes a simple “R U OK?” can mean more than you realise. 💛💙🫶

Last night we enjoyed a lovely evening at the Cluden Park Industry Awards.

I was incredibly proud to once again be recognised as the recipient of the Trainer’s Choice Award, as well as the ‘Errol Sewell’ Club Person Award.

The Errol Sewell Award recognises a person who represents the Townsville Turf Club with distinction and makes an outstanding contribution to the Club and the wider racing community, which makes receiving it particularly special to me.

My parents and the Sewell family have shared a long and successful association in racing over many years, but more importantly, they have also shared the very best of friendships. To receive an award bearing Errol’s name means a great deal and to also receive it on the anniversary of my dear Father’s passing had me very emotional!

Racing can be measured in winners, prizemoney and results, but there are some things that matter far more.

Being kind, being respected and making a positive contribution might not pay the bills or get winners across the line, but it means more to me than any prizemoney ever could. 💙🤍

I’m very grateful to be recognised, and very proud to be part of our Townsville racing community.

One runner today at Cluden Park with Nottington Prince having his first start back after a spell.

Bayley had come to hand nicely since having a break and will get the gun run from Barrier 1. He will only improve on today’s run but will be right in the finish 💙

Good luck & safe racing to all.

Happy spell time for BLT (Betterlucknexttime)! He gave us everything he got this prep and enjoys his racing so much but it’s time for him to enjoy a little rest at McGovern Racing 💚

We are very grateful to be back racing on our home track at Cluden Park after the road trip to cairnsjockeyclub on Friday.

BLT has his last race for this prep before he goes for a very well deserved spell and will line up in the Class 4 1200m. He will enjoy the drop back in distance and the opportunity to just go across the road to race rather than travel.

Good luck & safe racing to all 💙💚🖤

No gold medals today at Cairns Jockey Club but we did make it to the 3rd podium with Fistsoffury coming a lovely third and Better Breakout will bounce back after coming 6th. It was an honour to be asked to be on the special guest panel at the Ladies Long Lunch and speak about my journey into being a racehorse trainer 🫶
