Look who turned up to say g'day.

This black-necked stork was working the edge of the billabong while we were out on the water. Beak wide open, not a care in the world. Moments like this are the bonus you get when you fish the NT with us. The fishing is brilliant, but the wildlife and scenery are what people talk about long after they've flown home.

Not a bad office view, hey.

This beauty, a black-necked stork (jabiru), was keeping a close eye on us from the bank this week. Out on the billabongs and creeks you never quite know who's going to turn up. Storks, egrets, lotus blooms all through the lagoons, and that's before the fishing even starts.

That's the part people don't expect. You come for the Barra, and you go home talking about the wildlife too.

Big smiles, a solid silver fish and a calm morning on the water. Days like this are why we do what we do.

An 85cm barra on the third cast.

Sarah and Mark had never chased Barra before. We weren't sure who was more excited when that fish hit the surface. Hutcho spotted the lure sitting perfectly in the mangrove shadow and quietly said, "That's the one." Three casts later, Sarah had her hands full.

That's the kind of afternoon we live for out here.
