It’s been a while since my last posts… but many stories are still to come — from our crossings and our coastal sailing through the Caribbean.

Gibraltar.
Landfall with Agapé after the long miles south. Dolphins welcomed us into the bay while the famous monkeys watched from the Rock.

We also took the opportunity to haul out Agapé for a small repair before the next big chapter.

A short pause between two worlds — the Mediterranean behind us, the Atlantic ahead.

Antje at the helm, sails set, and one straight crossing of the Strait… keeping a careful eye out for the orcas.

Gibraltar in view ⛵️👍 From Aegina to Gibraltar — 4 weeks of sea adventures 🌊⛵️

We set sail from Aegina, leaving the calm waters of the Saronic Gulf behind. Through the legendary Corinth Canal and under the majestic Patras Bridge, the journey began to unfold.

After a peaceful night anchored off the wild southern shores of Kefalonia, we crossed the Ionian Sea to Sicily, where the cliffs of Taormina welcomed us at sunrise. From Milazzo, we explored the magic of the Aeolian Islands, with a memorable stop in Salina — volcanic peaks, warm winds, and timeless charm.

Our route then led us to Junca Bay, on the quiet southern coast of Sicily, before setting sail for Cagliari in Sardinia. From there, the open sea carried us west to Menorca, anchoring in Mahón, then on to Palma de Mallorca, and finally to Gibraltar that is now in view ⛵️🤞

Anchor issue with 25 N of wind !
Not an usual publication about the beauty of sailing - This one is more about the issues we face now and then

When our anchor gearbox decides to give up… it usually picks the worst moment.
Ours broke with 50 meters of chain out and 25 knots of wind blowing, holding us firmly in place. With the windlass out of action, we had no choice but to haul the anchor up manually — not exactly a relaxing start to the day!

Then came the real challenge: sourcing the parts and doing the repair inside the cramped, awkward space of the anchor locker. Not a job for the faint of heart (or the claustrophobic!).

But we got it done — in just one day, thanks to some determination, a bit of sweat, and excellent support from Nautilus, who came through with exactly the parts we needed, right when we needed them.

All in all, a good reminder that on a boat, you never stop learning, improvising… and repairing.
