PROUD DAD MOMENT. 🥹❤️
2nd place out of 35 runners in the 1000m. 🥈🔥
But what made me proud wasn’t only the medal.
At just 8 years old, Derek managed his race incredibly well. He stayed calm, chose his moments to increase the pace and finished extremely strong.
He started a little too far behind the leaders, and that became today’s lesson:
Next time, stay closer. Trust your speed. And when the moment comes… GO. 🔥
But as a father, there’s something even more important than where he finished.
He LOVES being active.
He loves competing.
He loves discovering what his body is capable of.
And he finished with a huge smile on his face. ❤️
That’s what I want for our kids.
Parents, give them opportunities.
Let them run.
Let them play football.
Let them swim.
Let them climb.
Let them try different sports.
Let them lose sometimes.
Let them win sometimes.
Don’t pressure them to become champions.
Help them discover the joy of becoming better than they were yesterday.
We may not know what their full potential is yet…
But they’ll never discover it sitting on the sidelines.
Keep our kids moving. ❤️
Proud of you, son. 🥈
And we keep going. 💪🏼🔥
