What a way to finish the EHF Men's 18 Championship II! 🇧🇪

After a fantastic tournament full of determination, fighting spirit and ONE TEAM mentality, the Young Young Red Wolves secured the bronze medal with a convincing 37–32 victory over Kosovo.

⭐ And what a performance by Thiebe Fiers! With an incredible 18 goals, he was deservedly named 𝗠𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵.

But the individual honours don't stop there...

Yesterday, the Young Young Red Wolves faced hosts Georgia, who were still unbeaten in the tournament. The match was essentially a dream final.

Belgium needed a victory by at least four goals to reach the final. Due to the tournament regulations, the ranking is determined by the goal difference in the matches between the teams concerned, rather than the overall goal difference.

The Young Young Red Wolves took the court with incredible determination against a Georgian side that was considerably bigger and heavier. Within the first 10 minutes, Belgium had already received two 2-minute suspensions. Despite the difficult circumstances, the team fought its way to a 16–14 lead at half-time.

The second half was another incredible battle. Belgium's maximum lead reached six goals, but Georgia managed to fight its way back. When the final whistle sounded, the scoreboard showed a fantastic 33–30 victory for Belgium. 🔥

Unfortunately, one goal short of what was needed to reach the final.

Despite the enormous disappointment, the coaching staff could only be incredibly proud of the fight, determination and TEAM spirit shown by the players both on the court and from the bench. A fantastic victory – even if the result wasn't enough to secure the final.

Following yesterday's defeat, today was a well-deserved rest day for the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀.

After a relaxed morning, the team returned to the court for an afternoon training session before focusing on recovery with ice baths, cold showers and the sauna to be fully ready for the next challenge.

Meanwhile, Belgium's 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 award winners – Erno De Novellis, Patrick Desnouck, Romain Van Simaeys and Thiebe Fiers – took part in the Respect Your Talent programme. This time, ambassador Carlos Prieto shared his experiences as a professional player and introduced the players to the opportunities offered by the Respect Your Talent app.

Today, the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀 faced Bulgaria in their fourth match of the EHF Men's 18 Championship II.

Although the full squad was available again, it was clear that the recent virus infection had taken its toll. The team was unable to perform at its usual level.

Bulgaria got off to a flying start, taking an early 0–3 lead. Belgium gradually fought its way back into the game and went into half-time with the score level at 20–20, setting up an exciting second half.

After the break, Bulgaria once again created a gap. This time, the Young Young Red Wolves were unable to turn the game around, and Bulgaria eventually claimed a 41–36 victory.

😌 Tomorrow is another well-deserved rest day, giving the team the opportunity to recover and recharge.

Today's match against Kosovo proved to be one of character, resilience and true team spirit.

Unfortunately, Belgium was unable to field a full squad due to a stomach virus that affected several players and staff members. Until the very last moment, it was uncertain how many players would be fit to take the court. Five players recovered just in time to play, but three players were unavailable, with two of them forced to remain at the hotel. As a result, the Young Young Red Wolves went into battle with a squad of just 13 players.

The first half was a difficult one, but Belgium still managed to take an 18–16 lead into the break.

At half-time, the message was clear: 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺. Fight for each other. Fight for the teammates who couldn't be on the court.

And that's exactly what the Young Young Red Wolves did.

With incredible determination, energy and teamwork, Belgium dominated the second half, gradually increasing the lead to secure a fantastic 38–31 victory! 🔥
