In Motion School of Dance

Take a look at what our In Motion dancer Elle Fontanetta had been up to this summer at Steps on Broadway in New York.

1. How long were you at your summer intensive?
I was at the summer intensive for two weeks at Steps on Broadway.

2. What type of dances did you do?
We did ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz hip hop, ballet contemporary and some times gram. Those are the classes we took first and then from like 3:30 to 5:00 we had rehearsal which was where we learned a dance for the show at the end of the two weeks. Each week we learned one dance so we had two dances for the show. One of them was modern and the other one was ballet contemporary.

3. How was the experience for you?
I think the experience was really fun and cool that I got to work with different choreographers from New York. I also think that I had a bit of a challenge but in a good way, Because most of the People there were 14 and 15 and they are on competition teams. But I really liked it and I would definitely do it again.

4. What did you learn in the process?
I think I learned to be adaptable because one of the choreographers, Natiya Kezevadzea. She is the rehearsal director at the completions dance company. She taught us contemporary ballet for the show. And about every single day she changed the choreography, so it was very confusing. And the dance wasn’t even finished until 5 minutes before the last rehearsal ended. So I think I learned as a dancer I should be able to learn choreography in any situation even if it’s confusing.

SDI Week One!

We wrapped up an incredible first week with our final presentation, where students introduced our guest choreographers and gave everyone a peek into what they learned throughout the week.

Thank you to all of our amazing guest choreographers who spent the first week with us, sharing their talent, knowledge, and creativity with our dancers. We’re so grateful to continue bringing inspiring artists into our studio each year!
