Karanba

The main goal for Karanba is to offer marginalized kids and youth from Rio de Janeiros slum (favelas) an alternative to the streets and possibilities for another life.

Karanba wants to help and guide young people and communicate what life demands of one another with football as a main tool. Karanba should give possibilities for positive personal development through focusing on good attitude and how to approach situations for life in general. The goal is therefore not first and foremost to develop professional footballers but rather hope and goals by doing something good. Karanba should be an expression for the role that sports can have in development of youth. We should represent the role that sport can have in the local society and help developing it. Far more important than scoring goals and winning games should Karanba be an arena for communication of good values, attitude and knowledge.

Portuguese translations by: [email protected]
