🇧🇼✨ BOTSWANA REPRESENTED AT WORLD BOWLS WOMEN IN BOWLS LEADERSHIP FORUM! ✨🌍

We are incredibly proud to celebrate our very own Mpopi Pelemo who was part of the World Bowls Women in Bowls Leadership Forum held at cluBarham, Australia! 🎳💙

Hosted by World Bowls Deputy President Hazel Wilson, the forum brought together inspiring women from across Africa, Europe, Oceania and the UK – players, Technical Officials and Champion of Champions participants – united by one goal: to empower women to thrive and lead in bowls.

The evening was about stepping away from competition to connect, share what’s working in different nations, and discuss how we can create more inclusive opportunities where women have equal voice, equal opportunity and equal value – in line with World Bowls’ ambition for 2036.

Mpopi continues to be a true ambassador for Botswana, both on and off the green. Your presence at this global platform is not just a personal milestone, but a win for all women in bowls in Botswana! 🙌🇧🇼

Thank you World Bowls for creating these meaningful networks and continuing to champion gender equality in our sport.

We celebrate you Mpopi!!💃🏽🎉

🇧🇼🎉 CELEBRATING BOT60: 60 YEARS OF BOTSWANA'S INDEPENDENCE 🎉🇧🇼

Today, as we proudly celebrate 60 years of Botswana's independence, the Botswana Bowling Association joins the nation in reflecting on our remarkable journey as a country and as a sporting community.

🏆 Lawn bowls has been part of Botswana's sporting landscape since the 1960s, with clubs established across the country and passionate players helping to grow the game. In the early years, the sport was largely played by expatriates and a small number of local players, but over time more and more Batswana embraced the game, bringing talent, passion and national pride to our greens.

🌟 Botswana's bowls history is filled with achievements that continue to inspire us: 🥉 In 1986, Botswana won its first-ever Commonwealth Games bowls medal, when Babs Anderson secured a Bronze Medal in the Singles event in Edinburgh, Scotland, marking a historic milestone for Botswana on the international stage.

🇧🇼 Through the years, bowling in Botswana has evolved into a truly national sport. Thanks to the dedication of players, officials, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and supporters, we successfully developed citizen representation at international level and have continued to achieve success across African competitions.

🙏 We also honour the pioneers and administrators who laid the foundations for the sport, including those who worked tirelessly to increase the visibility, professionalism and accessibility of bowls throughout Botswana. Their legacy continues to inspire future generations.

As we celebrate BOT60, we celebrate not only 60 years of nationhood, but also the spirit of unity, excellence, resilience and community that defines Botswana and our sport.

💙🖤🤍 Together, let us continue building a brighter future for bowls and for Botswana.

🎊 Happy 60th Independence Anniversary, Botswana! 🎊
