A defining moment for women in lawn bowls 🎳✨ as twenty-five participants attended the inaugural 'Women in Bowls Leadership Workshop' which was hosted alongside the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games to talk leadership, opportunity, and what’s next for women in our sport. Stronger pathways, mentoring, and a global network are on the way.

The Botswana Bowling Association was represented at the event by its President, Marea Modutlwa. As Hazel Wilson, a World Bowls Board member highlighted, the most important part is what happens next after Glasgow 🌍

Women from across the global bowls community came together in Glasgow during the 2026 Commonwealth Games to talk about leadership, opportunity and the future of women in our sport.

The World Bowls Women in Bowls Leadership Event brought together 25 leaders, administrators, athletes and advocates to share experiences, identify barriers and discuss practical ways to create more opportunities for women to lead.

As World Bowls Director Hazel Wilson said, the most important part is what happens next.

The discussion highlighted a number of priorities, including stronger leadership pathways, better connections between women across Member Nations, mentoring opportunities and the development of a global Women in Bowls network.

The Botswana Bowling Association extends its sincere appreciation to Stirling Indoor Bowling Club for warmly hosting the Botswana Lawn Bowls Team during our Pre-Games Training Camp in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

As a gesture of gratitude and friendship, Team Botswana presented a specially crafted Botswana-themed engraved artefact, proudly showcasing our national identity while promoting cultural exchange through sport. 🇧🇼🎁 This reflects the long-standing bowls tradition of visiting teams presenting tokens of appreciation to their hosts.

We are truly grateful for the outstanding hospitality shown by the club and its members, who went above and beyond to make our team feel welcome and at home. ❤️🏡 One of the highlights for our players was discovering signage within the club written in Setswana 🇧🇼🗣️, a thoughtful and memorable touch that exemplified the warmth of our hosts.

Sport has a unique way of bringing people and cultures together, and our experience at Stirling Indoor Bowling Club is a wonderful example of that spirit. 🌍🤝✨
