MASASAILA SC
PLAYERS’ RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. PURPOSE
These rules and regulations are intended to promote respect, discipline, teamwork, unity, and a positive environment among all players of Masasaila SC.
Masasaila SC is a social football club. The main purpose is to enjoy football, maintain friendships, stay active, and build a strong team spirit. However, being a social club does not mean that discipline and respect should be overlooked.
🔴All players are expected to contribute towards a respectful and enjoyable environment both on and off the field🔵
2. RESPECT FOR THE COACH
All players selected to play on Sunday are expected to respect the coach and follow reasonable instructions given during the match.
* Players must listen to and respect the coach's instructions.
* If the coach assigns a player to a particular position, the player is expected to play that position to the best of their ability.
* For example, if a player is instructed to play on the wing, the player should play on the wing and should not refuse or insist on playing in another position.
* If a player has a genuine concern about their position, it should be communicated respectfully rather than through an argument on the field.
* Repeated refusal to follow instructions or disrespect towards the coach may affect the player's selection for future Sunday matches.
🔴The coach is responsible for making football decisions during the match, and players are expected to respect those decisions🔵
3. MAINTAINING ASSIGNED POSITIONS
Players are expected to maintain their assigned positions during the match.
* Players should remain in their assigned positions unless the coach gives different instructions.
* Players should not unnecessarily move into another player's position.
* Players may adjust their position when necessary during the game, but should always consider the team's overall shape.
* Players should communicate with one another rather than abandoning their positions without explanation.
* Once the coach changes a player's position or the team's formation, players are expected to follow the new instructions.
🔴Positional discipline is important because one player's movement can affect the entire team🔵
4. RESPECT AMONG PLAYERS
Every player must treat fellow players with respect.
The following behaviour is not acceptable:
* Insulting or verbally abusing teammates.
* Fighting or attempting to fight another player.
* Bullying, mocking, or deliberately humiliating teammates.
* Threatening another player.
* Constantly blaming teammates for mistakes.
* Creating unnecessary arguments or divisions within the team.
Players are expected to encourage one another, especially when mistakes are made.
🔴We play together, and therefore we should respect one another🔵
5. RESPECT FOR THE OPPOSITION AND REFEREES
Players must conduct themselves respectfully towards opposing teams and match officials.
* Do not deliberately provoke or insult opponents.
* Do not unnecessarily argue with referees.
* Players should accept refereeing decisions even when they disagree with them.
* Only the designated captain or appropriate player should communicate with the referee regarding match-related concerns.
* Fighting or threatening opponents or officials is strictly prohibited.
6. SUNDAY MATCH-DAY COMMITMENT
Sunday is the main day for Masasaila SC activities. Players are therefore expected to take Sunday matches seriously.
* Players who confirm their availability should make a genuine effort to attend.
* If a player becomes unavailable, they should inform the appropriate team member as early as reasonably possible.
* Players should not repeatedly confirm attendance and then fail to appear without a reasonable explanation.
* Regular commitment and reliability may be considered when selecting players.
7. PUNCTUALITY
Players should make every reasonable effort to arrive on time on Sundays.
Players should arrive early enough to:
* Change and prepare for the match;
* Receive instructions from the coach;
* Warm up where necessary; and
* Be ready when the team is required to play.
🔴Repeated lateness without a reasonable explanation may affect selection🔵
8. PLAYER SELECTION
Being part of Masasaila SC does not automatically guarantee selection for every Sunday match.
Selection may take into consideration:
* Availability;
* Punctuality;
* Commitment to the club;
* Respect for the coach and teammates;
* Ability to follow team instructions;
* Behaviour on previous Sundays; and
* The needs and balance of the team.
🔴Players should respect selection decisions and avoid creating unnecessary arguments over who has or has not been selected🔵
9. SUBSTITUTIONS AND PLAYING TIME
Players must respect decisions regarding substitutions and playing time.
* A player who is substituted should leave the field respectfully.
* Players should not argue with the coach because they have been substituted.
* Players waiting on the sidelines should continue supporting their teammates.
* Players should not create conflict because they believe they should have played longer.
* Everyone should remember that this is a social club, and the objective is to enjoy the game while maintaining team unity.
10. DRESSING ROOM AND MEETING-AREA CONDUCT
The dressing room and areas where players gather should remain respectful and positive.
Players must:
* Respect other players' personal belongings.
* Avoid unnecessary arguments and disturbances.
* Keep the area reasonably clean.
* Avoid behaviour that makes other members uncomfortable.
* Maintain a positive atmosphere before and after matches.
🔴The dressing room should be a place where players feel comfortable, respected, and part of the team🔵
11. TEAMWORK AND SUPPORT
Players are expected to put the interests of the team above personal disagreements.
* Encourage teammates.
* Communicate positively on the field.
* Help teammates when they make mistakes.
* Do not deliberately undermine another player's confidence.
* Do not create groups or divisions within the team.
* Celebrate together when the team succeeds and remain supportive when the team loses.
🔴No individual player is bigger than the team🔵
12. DISAGREEMENTS AND CONFLICTS
Disagreements may occur in football, but they must be handled maturely.
Players should not:
* Start arguments during the match;
* Engage in physical confrontations;
* Insult teammates or officials;
* Bring personal disagreements into the game; or
* Encourage other players to take sides.
🔴Where a serious disagreement occurs, it should be addressed calmly after the match with the appropriate team leadership🔵
13. ALCOHOL AND INTOXICATION
Players are expected to be in a suitable condition to participate in Sunday matches.
A player who is visibly intoxicated or unable to participate safely may not be allowed to play.
Players should also avoid behaviour involving alcohol or other substances that could negatively affect the safety, discipline, or reputation of Masasaila SC.
14. SOCIAL MEDIA AND CLUB REPUTATION
Players should be mindful of the reputation of Masasaila SC when posting on social media.
Players should not use social media to:
* Publicly insult teammates or the coach;
* Expose internal team disagreements unnecessarily;
* Threaten or humiliate other members; or
* Publish content intended to damage the reputation of the club.
🔴Disagreements within the team should preferably be resolved internally and respectfully🔵
15. FEEDBACK AND SUGGESTIONS
Players are encouraged to provide constructive suggestions about the club.
However, concerns should be raised respectfully and at an appropriate time.
Players should not undermine the coach or team leadership in front of other players.
Having a different opinion is acceptable. Disrespect is not.
16. DISCIPLINARY ACTION
Where a player repeatedly or seriously violates these rules, the club may take appropriate action.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
1. A verbal warning;
2. A discussion with the player;
3. Temporary exclusion from a Sunday match; or
4. In serious or repeated cases, removal from Masasaila SC.
🔴Disciplinary action should be fair and proportionate to the behaviour involved🔵
17. GENERAL EXPECTATION
Every player is expected to remember that Masasaila SC is a social football club, and football should remain enjoyable.
However, being a social club does not give players the freedom to disrespect the coach, teammates, opponents, or officials.
The standard expected from every player is:
RESPECT – DISCIPLINE – TEAMWORK – SPORTSMANSHIP – ENJOYMENT
We may come to play football, but we should also leave with our relationships and friendships intact.
MASASAILA SC
One Team. One Spirit. One Respect.
