Per our video, here is the proper way to repair ball marks on the green:
Insert your repair tool behind the ball mark and gently push the top of the tool toward the center.
Continue working around the ball mark, pushing the surrounding turf in toward the center of the indentation.
Avoid using a lifting motion because this can damage turf roots.
Once you have finished pushing turf in toward the center, gently tamp the area down with your putter to create a smooth, firm surface.

Trees are a major part of the Burlington Springs experience... but it hasn't always been that way.
50 years ago in 1976 when our video starts, our tree coverage between holes was limited mainly to saplings planted at the course's birth in 1962.
That was supercharged in 2014 when Brad and Debby planted 25,000 trees as part of the province's 25 Million Tree program.
Today we all benefit from tree-lined fairways that make the course more majestic and the scoring a little more challenging.
Enjoy the trees... and the stark contrast between 1976 and today... 🌳

Hole in One Alert - Regular Eddie Cirasella, who's played for 13 yrs, made his first ace on #17 from 150 yds with his 8 iron.
Ed had pulled a muscle on the 10th hole and almost packed it in. Instead, he slowed down his swing and better accuracy ensued.
We're certain Eddie's happy he hung in... as, no doubt, were his buddies when they celebrated later at our Bunker Bar & Grill.
Congrats Ed, keep up the slow swing!

Yesterday would have been the 100th birthday of Burlington Springs founder Larry Bunkowsky, pictured with Brad and Debby who took responsibility for the legacy on his passing in 2012.
An already successful entrepreneur, Larry purchased 2 adjacent Burlington farms in 1962. By 1963 he had designed and opened the course with the layout you enjoy today... but with far less tree coverage around most holes (stay tuned for a future post).
Our older players will also have their favourite "Larry stories" as he certainly was a colourful one of a kind... but we'll leave it to you to share amongst yourselves 😉

Hole in One Alert! Regular Julia Mickus scored an ace with her 3 wood on the 9th hole from 150 yards. Wait a sec, isn't #9 a par 4???
Julia was playing with teaching pro David Banks "Operation 36" group. Their goal is to shoot 36 or better for 9 holes with each hole playing as par 4.
Golfers tee off 25 yds from the green in Stage 1 and move to the next stage after scoring 36 or better. Stage 2 is 50 yds, then 100, 150, 200, and finally regular tees.
Julia made her hole in one in Stage 4 150 yds.
After watching the Masters 2 years ago, Julia decided to give golf a try and the rest is history. She loves the personal development and camaraderie the game embodies.
C'mon, let's see some more newcomer aces this year 😉

Hole in One Alert - Member Larry Snow carded his second lifetime ace today on #17 from 154 yards with his 7 iron.
Even better, it was almost a "hole in one duo" for the man who's enjoyed the game for 40+ years.
Larry's tee shot on #8 pierced the wall of the hole requiring a MacGyver repair... but unfortunately it didn't stay in 🥴
Congrats Larry!

Happy Father's Day! Mike and 3 of his 4 sons Owen, Evan and Brody played their Father's Day round a day early.
They're avid softball players and regulars at Burlington Springs who only got into the game 2 years ago. They describe it as "fun and frustrating"... which sounds just like those of us who've been navigating the fairways much longer 😉
Was also cool they played a family best ball scramble which is a great way for different skill levels to enjoy the game and contribute. We highly recommend it.
