COMMITTED | Morgan Gukert

Congratulations to Morgan Gukert on her commitment to the University of Calgary, where she will continue her academic and athletic career with the Calgary Dinos at the U SPORTS level.

A 2009 attacking midfielder, Morgan has continually looked for opportunities to challenge herself and take her game to the next level. Through Calgary Blizzard, she has competed across APDL and AMSL, earned call-ups to League1 Alberta (APL), and furthered her development through the Whitecaps FC Academy and Dinos University Prep Program.

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Morgan’s versatility has also allowed her to make an impact on the wing and as a striker. Her technical ability, creativity and understanding of the game give her the ability to create opportunities and contribute wherever she’s needed.

For Morgan, reaching the university level is also a chance to continue playing the game she loves while pursuing her education close to home.

“Soccer has given me so many incredible experiences, friendships, challenges, and opportunities to grow, both as a player and as a person. I’m thankful for all of the coaches, teammates, family, and friends who have supported me along the way and helped me get to this point.”

Morgan’s willingness to keep learning, competing and stepping into new challenges has brought her to this exciting next chapter.

Congratulations, Morgan! We’re incredibly proud of you and can’t wait to see you take the field as a Dino!

COMMITTED | Jordan McQueen

Congratulations to Jordan McQueen on her commitment to Oregon State University, where she will continue her academic and athletic career playing NCAA Division I soccer with the Oregon State Beavers.

Jordan’s journey with Calgary Blizzard started when she was just four years old. Since then, we’ve watched her grow from one of our youngest players into a dynamic midfielder, coach and role model for the next generation of Blizzard players.

On the field, Jordan is the engine in the middle—covering ground, breaking up play and doing the tough work defensively, while using her vision and technical ability to connect with the attack and create opportunities going forward.

And after all those years with Blizzard, there are a few lessons that have stuck with her.

“Blizzard has taught me many lessons on and off the field—the most common one being told to stop dribbling so much! I first started Blizzard at four years old and have been so grateful for this family ever since. I am so thankful for all the work the coaches put into me and for the teammates that will be forever best friends.”

For Jordan, some of the best memories aren’t necessarily the big wins—they’re the jokes, practices, tournaments and years spent alongside her teammates.

She has also found a way to give back to the programs where her own journey began, coaching within our Roots program and with our 2013 Girls, before more recently continuing her own development with the Calgary Wild FC APL team.

From starting with Blizzard at four years old to earning the opportunity to play NCAA Division I soccer, this is an incredibly exciting next step.

Congratulations, Jordan! We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see what’s ahead at Oregon State. 🧡⚽

COMMITTED | Sienna Szysky

Congratulations to Sienna Szysky on her commitment to the University of New Mexico, where she will continue her academic and athletic career playing NCAA Division I soccer with the New Mexico Lobos.

Sienna has been part of Calgary Blizzard since she was eight years old, growing up with the same group that is now our APDL 2010G team. Over the years, she has been part of some incredible team accomplishments—including three consecutive Provincial Championships.

Her favourite came in St. Albert, when the Provincial Final went the full 120 minutes before heading to penalties. Sienna stepped up in goal and saved the sixth penalty to help her team secure the championship.

But when Sienna looks back on her years with Blizzard, it’s the people and lessons she takes with her most.

“I learned many lessons being part of the Blizzard family, but one that sticks out to me is that hard work and commitment always pay off, even if it doesn’t show right away. I’m so grateful for all the people involved in the club—from my teammates who will be my best friends for a long time, to all of the coaches who have poured countless hours into my development.”

More recently, Sienna has continued her development with the Calgary Wild FC APL team, and now she’s earned the opportunity to take her game to the NCAA Division I level.

We couldn’t be prouder, Sienna. You are proof of what hard work, taking a risk and total commitment can lead to.

Huge congratulations on this achievement. Now go crush it in D1! 🧡⚽

The 2026/27 Indoor Season is getting closer! From team release and Blizzard Day to the first training sessions and games, here are a few important dates to have on your calendar as we get ready to head indoors.

And first things first—Indoor Registration closes September 7! If you haven’t registered yet, make sure you’re signed up before the deadline.

We can’t wait to get another season underway.

Congratulations to Sophia Marrello on her commitment to the University of Alberta Augustana, where she will continue her academic and athletic career with the Augustana Vikings.

Sophia’s dedication to the game has always been easy to see. She brings a positive attitude to training and competition, is a supportive teammate and is always ready to get on the field—sometimes so ready that even an injury isn’t enough to convince her to slow down!

Her work ethic and determination have made an impact on those around her, and her commitment to Augustana is a well-earned next step in her soccer journey.

Her coach shared, “Her unwavering dedication and commitment to the sport inspire her teammates to strive for excellence. It has been a privilege and pleasure to coach her and now get to witness her progress on this new chapter in her soccer journey.”
