What a run in Finland. 🇫🇮❤️

Four years ago, when Scotia Storm began, competing at the Lions Cup in Finland wasn't necessarily on the radar. But breaking new ground for our younger athletes was. Creating opportunities was. Believing there didn't have to be limits on what they too could achieve was.

It all started with one simple question: What if? What if we created more opportunities? What if our younger athletes believed they could compete beyond our borders?

Those "what ifs" became "why nots." And when you pair that mindset with athletes willing to put in the work, incredible things can happen.

Four years later, here we are. Not because it was guaranteed, but because athletes, coaches, volunteers, and families believed it was worth chasing. In our first-ever international tournament, Scotia Storm:

- Finished with a winning record (4 wins, 3 losses - which were close loses)
- Finished 4th in our division
- Finished 2nd out of the 7 Canadian teams
- Finished 8th overall out of 16 teams
- Probably had the most penalty minutes 😉

To Finland, thank you for welcoming our athletes, coaches, and families with open arms. From world-class competition to unforgettable experiences away from the rink, you gave this team more than we ever imagined. The Lions Cup was everything we hoped it would be and so much more.

To our U16 Storm team: thank you for making history. Thank you for the countless hours of work that brought you here and for showing every young athlete back home just how far Storm can go. You didn't just compete, you expanded what every young Storm athlete will believe is possible.

And to the little Stormtroopers watching from home, if this week sparked a dream, hold onto it. Keep working. Keep believing. One day, it could be your turn to wear the jersey, step onto the international stage, and inspire the next generation.

The first chapter of Scotia Storm's international story has been written.

And it's only the beginning.

Kiitos, Finland. We will be back. 🇫🇮🌩️💙

AND THAT IS HOW YOU FINISH!💥

The script writers were feeling extra creative this morning as our girls found another gear when it mattered most, scoring a few late goals to lock down a thrilling 5-4 win in their final round robin game.

In a game where 5 on 5 seemed rare, the girls still found a way to come out on top. They are the definition of resilience and perseverance. 😅

No matter what gets thrown their way, this group just keeps finding answers. And we couldn't be prouder.

Details on the next game will be posted as soon as they become available.

🇫🇮 DAY SIX: Espoo & Helsinki, Finland

It's often true that the best parts of a trip are rarely the ones you plan. Somewhere between the games, the city streets, the dressing room laughs, and the souvenir shops, this group is writing a story that's about so much more than ringette.

Today's second game didn't go our way, but this team continues to test themselves against some incredibly talented teams, and every challenge is making them stronger.

It's been pretty special to watch them embrace every opportunity and make the most of this experience.

One final round robin game awaits tomorrow. Another chance to leave it all on the ice and we know they will do just that.

HOPE YOU GOT UP ⏰🤯

After yesterday's heartbreaking one-goal loss, Storm came out flying this morning and answered in a massive way!

A total of 21 goals lit up the scoreboard in an all-out offensive showcase, with end-to-end action from the opening whistle to the final buzzer. Every shift brought another chance, another save, another celebration.

What. A. Response. 🔥🔥🔥

Congratulations, Scotia Storm!

🇫🇮 DAY FIVE: Helsinki & Espoo, Finland

The Lions Cup is officially underway!

Before taking to the ice, our U16s spent the morning exploring the streets of Helsinki, soaking in one more piece of Finland before it was time to compete.

Then came tournament game one, which was a high-scoring battle where the team never stopped pushing. They kept the pressure on all game and finished just one goal short in a thrilling contest.

Bring on day two! We are ready for more! 💪
