Assistant Ice Technician – 2026/27 Curling Season

The Drayton Valley Curling Club is looking for an Assistant Ice Technician to join our team for the upcoming curling season!

Our club is a busy six-sheet facility with approximately 172 adult and 50 junior members, 5–6 draws throughout the week, plus bonspiels, rentals, school groups and other events.

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about curling, takes pride in their work, and enjoys being part of the curling community.

🧊 THE POSITION

📅 October 1 – March 31
⏰ Approximately 15–20 hours per week
📍 Drayton Valley Curling Club
🗓️ Weekdays, evenings & some weekends
💰 Competitive wage based on education and experience

Weekend hours will vary depending on scheduled events and bonspiels.

🥌 WHAT YOU’LL DO

Working alongside the Head Ice Assistant, you’ll help with the installation, preparation and ongoing maintenance of our ice and facility, including:

• Installing and maintaining the ice surface
• Cleaning, pebbling, scraping and clipping
• Flooding and maintaining the ice as needed
• Temperature monitoring
• Ice preparation for league draws, bonspiels and special events
• Floor preparation, touch-up painting, lines, logos and sealing
• Cleaning and maintaining areas surrounding the ice
• Monitoring and maintaining ice-making equipment
• Maintaining curling rocks throughout the season
• Stocking supplies and keeping areas clean and organized
• End-of-season ice removal and facility cleanup
• Identifying future equipment repair, replacement and maintenance needs

⭐ WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Previous Ice Technician experience is an asset, and Level I or II Ice Technician Certification is an added bonus — but training will be provided!

✔️ Comfortable working independently and as part of a team
✔️ Passionate about curling
✔️ Proud of providing members and guests with a great experience

From January 11–17, 2027, the province’s best men’s and women’s curling teams will battle it out at the Nelson Bros Arena for a shot at the Brier and Scotties Tournament of Hearts. 🏆

Only the 2nd time EVER these championships have shared the ice together in a spectator arena — and Drayton Valley is ready to roll out the red carpet! 🔴
