🔥 SUMMER VB CAMP COACH ANNOUNCEMENT 🔥
Meet some of VTG’s Elite Coaching Staff! ⬇️
We’re bringing together an incredible lineup of coaches to lead this summer’s camps! 🏐
✨ Lead Coach: Eugene Unrau
A lifelong competitor in both basketball and volleyball, Eugene comes from a family lineage of NBA athletes but chose to dedicate his career to volleyball. A two-time AAA High School Provincial Champion from Barrhead, he continued his playing career at Olds College, helping lead the program to a 1st-place ACAL and ACAC finish.
For over a decade, Eugene has built a reputation for developing athletes and creating winning environments, earning podium finishes in every club season he’s coached. Most recently, he led his 14U Boys to an undefeated Provincial Gold Medal—without dropping a single set.
Currently serving as an Assistant Coach and Recruitment Coordinator with the Concordia Thunder, Eugene specializes in the tactical and technical development of setters and middle blockers, bringing a high-energy, championship-tested approach to every session.
Joining Eugene is an outstanding team of assistant coaches:
🏐 Maddie Smith – Current VIU athlete and former NAIT Ooks middle, returning for her 3rd summer with Valor.
🏐 Raph Agbay – Former club athlete & provincial medalist, NCCP-certified coach, back for his 3rd year coaching with Valor.
🏐 Helen Machar – Current Lethbridge Kodiaks athlete and returning for her 3rd summer coaching with Valor.
🏐 Cedric Bawit – Former Provincial All-Star, Provincial Champion, and team captain, entering his 2nd year coaching with Valor.
🏐 Alen Santhosh – Former Valor & FOG athlete and incoming Keyano Huskies setter, back for his 2nd summer coaching with Valor.
As numbers grow, so does our coaching roster... Keep an eye out for new additions as we get closer to our camp dates! ✨

Welcome back Coach Ben and Coach Harrison!
Coach Ben is entering his fourth season of coaching, having worked as both a head coach and assistant with Park Elite, Ravens, and Valor. Ben played competitive volleyball throughout high school as both a Libero and outside hitter before beginning his coaching journey in 2023.
Ben places a strong emphasis on technical development and strives to help athletes become well-rounded both on and off the court. Because volleyball is such a mental game, he focuses heavily on building confidence, resilience, and game IQ. He takes pride in his practices being high-energy and intentional. Outside of coaching Ben enjoys playing beach volleyball, running semi-competitively, and spending time on the golf course.
Coach Harrison brings over eight years of coaching experience across school and club volleyball, shaped by a lifetime spent in gyms alongside his twin brother, Ty, and their father. Growing up around the sport from the time they could walk, athletics quickly became a shared passion.
As a multi-sport athlete Harrison developed a deeper understanding of movement, strategy, and game IQ; tools that now define his coaching style. He began his coaching journey as a setter‑specialist. His early technical foundation expanded when he accepted a head coaching role in Nova Scotia, where he broadened his approach to full‑team development. After returning to Alberta post‑university, he continued to refine his craft alongside Ty, coaching with Park, Ravens, and most recently Valor.
Following Ty’s passing this season, Harrison is committed to carrying forward the legacy, passion, and standard his brother set. His coaching philosophy centres on developing athletes as both players and people; building connection, culture, and competitiveness in equal measure.
Coming off a successful season that began with a group of athletes new to club volleyball, both Ben and Harrison enter the upcoming 17U year with a clear purpose: continue development, push competitive ceilings, and keep fostering the team identity rooted in defence, work ethic, and authenticity.
So happy to have you on our bench!
