There’s something special about training during the summer months.
With different schedules, vacations, and a little more flexibility in the day, summer classes have their own unique energy. The pace may feel a little different, giving us more opportunity to focus on the details, refine techniques, and enjoy the process of training.
We hope everyone is enjoying summer and making some great memories. We look forward to seeing you in class! 🥋

Training regularly means paying attention to the little things — including hydration.
Over the years, Renshi has tried a lot of sports drinks while training and staying active. Many work well, but the cost can add up. I’ve found that keeping things simple, practical, and focused on what works best helps me stay consistent.
One option I’ve been enjoying is this homemade hydration drink by Shalane Flanagan:
🥥 2 cups coconut water
💧 2 cups water
🍋 ¼ cup fresh lemon or lime juice
🧂 ⅛–¼ tsp sea salt
🍁 Maple syrup or honey (optional)
What I like about it is that it can be adjusted depending on the training — more electrolytes for a hot day, a little extra fuel for longer sessions, or kept lighter for everyday use. You can even switch up the juice to create different flavors and keep it fun!
As with training itself, sometimes the simplest tools are the ones that work best and are easiest to stay consistent with. 🥋
