So far it's been and interesting and challenging summer.
Last year we changed our farming to growing just hay and the weather has NOT been helpful. The July Day Camp had no registrations, which in hindsight, made it possible for me to help Jack, because that's the week he had to do the hay!
It all works out, but not always the way I thought it would or should!!!

My mom has had some HUGE health set backs since she got a new hip the end of December then badly fractured her good leg in March. So, instead of putting energy into the business, I was able to help her out. She wanted to go camping in July, so my sister found a cabin to rent and we took her out! AMAZING for all of our mental health. Not so good for Horse Connect. 🥹

No kids camp. No ladies retreat. No grief circle. It's overwhelming, and a LOT discouraging.
I did host 3 Making Space Sessions. The people came. The horses stepped up. For them as well as for me.
Being the owner/operator/business manager/office person/doer of EVERYTHING is SO HARD!!!!! The horses and the humans reminded me why I started Horse Connect.
It is ALL about being SEEN, being HEARD and being ACCEPTED.
Camps and retreats might not happen just how I want, but every single time someone does come, horses help.
Hopefully next week's Day Camp and the Authentic You retreat on the 22nd and 23rd happen, but if they don't that's going to be okay too.

Important information about Honey Tap/Honey refills

We are getting many inquiries about when we will have fresh honey on tap, if we do pail exchanges, or if people can start leaving pails to refill, so I felt an information post was needed 🙂

We have 2 “seasons” when people can refill pails:

1. In the month of August when our FRESH honey tap is running. This is when we are harvesting our summer honey, and you can come and fill your containers on-demand at our fresh honey tap for $3.50/lb or $7.70/kg. We will not accept pails in advance-you need to come and fill them yourself 🙂 The only honey that is available is our Raw Summer honey, which will crystallize. We do NOT have Spring, Creamed, or Flavoured honey available for refills at this time but we do have lots of already filled containers of those types of honey available for purchase.
2. In the winter (December-March) is when we can refill containers with Creamed, Spring, Flavoured and summer Raw honey (prices vary depending on type). This is NOT on demand-you will need to leave your containers with us, and we will fill them and then call you when they are ready. This is the time when we pack all of our honey from the summer (which we’ve stored in barrels) that we will sell for the upcoming year. We handle thousands of pounds of honey, but can only pack one type/flavour at a time, and the creaming process is a multi-step process, hence why we can’t guarantee a refill on-demand as it depends on what step of the process and/or what flavour we are handling that week.

We may also reserve the right to limit the amount of honey customers purchase during these refill times. Due to the variability in our harvests (especially for spring and autumn honey) we can not accommodate larger quantities (50+ kg), and some seasons we may not have this honey available for refills at all.

We may have opportunities for refills outside of these 2 main seasons. If this is the case we will do our best to give as much advanced notice, and Facebook/instagram are our main methods of communication.

We do not do pail exchanges. Due to food safety concerns we can not re-use your pail for another customer, but you can refill it for yourself, and you save money doing so.
