Hi, I’m Miss Taryn! 💙
Or T-Dog, T-Bone, Terananan... apparently we have options around here.

I opened Taryn’s Dance Company when I was 23 years old, and even after all these years of growing the studio, one of my favourite places to be is still right in the classroom teaching.

This season, you’ll find me teaching Junior, Intermediate and Senior Jazz, Senior Lyrical, and our Large Group.

This summer took me to a few very different places! I went to Disney World with the studio, travelled to Germany with Jamie, and headed to Washington for a work conference. When I’m home and not at the studio, I’m happiest on the boat in the summer or on a snowboard in the winter. Give me a workout, a hot tub, some time to read and a caramel coffee, and that’s a pretty great day off.

And despite what my dance playlists might suggest sometimes, I actually love rock and metal music.

There are a lot of things I love about teaching, but those light-up moments are still some of the best. When a dancer has been working at something that feels really hard and suddenly they get it, you can see the pride all over their face.

That’s what I want my dancers to leave class with: a sense of accomplishment and something they’re genuinely proud of from that day.

My biggest advice for this season is to focus on the journey and give 100% to each class. It’s easy to get caught up in where you want to be, but the work you put in along the way is what will actually get you there. 💙

And apparently I can’t live without Carly & Tannis, so there’s that too.

First dance class tomorrow? 💙
A little preparation can help make that first trip to the studio feel even more exciting!
Have their dancewear ready, pack a water bottle, arrive a few minutes early and, most importantly, remind them that their only job is to have fun and give it a try.
Our teachers will take it from there. 💙

Hi, I’m Miss Kaycee! 💙

Dance has been one of the biggest parts of my life for as long as I can remember, and now one of my favourite things is getting to watch younger dancers find their own love for it too.

This season, I’ll be teaching Future Stars Jazz and Performance Acro!

This summer I travelled to Kelowna to visit family and spent plenty of time working in my school clinic for massage therapy. When I’m not at the studio, I’m usually working, driving around with friends, or spending time with the people I love. Add an iced caramel macchiato and some country music, and I’m pretty happy.

I also have a huge scented candle collection.

What I really love about teaching are those little moments when you can actually see something click. When a dancer finally gets the move they’ve been working on, walks into class excited to see their friends, or realizes they can do something they weren’t sure they could do before.

I want my dancers to feel challenged in class, but I also want them to leave feeling successful and proud of the work they put in.

And there’s one thing I especially hope they remember:

Don’t let your worth become dependent on how well you dance.

Dance should be a place where you can let go of everything happening outside the studio and just do something you love. 💙

Preschool Ballet is a gentle, playful introduction to the studio where little dancers can explore music, movement and imagination while building coordination, confidence and classroom independence along the way.
They’ll learn the beginnings of Ballet while still getting plenty of opportunities to play, explore and be little.

Hi, I’m Miss Abbe! 💙
I’m so excited to be joining TDC for my first season!
This year, you’ll find me teaching Future Stars Acro, Performance Jazz, Petite Acro, Petite Ballet, Teeny/Tiny Tutus & Ties, and Fine Arts Club.
I’m definitely someone who likes to stay busy and always seems to have a few things on the go. My friends would describe me as outgoing, caring and determined, and those are qualities I hope my dancers get to see in me too.
One of the things I love most about teaching is watching dancers grow in their confidence. There’s something pretty special about seeing a dancer work toward something, finally accomplish it, and realize what they’re capable of.
In my classes, I want every dancer to feel supported and comfortable being themselves, while leaving proud of the progress they made that day.
If there’s one thing I want my dancers to remember this season, it’s this:
Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Focus on your own progress, work hard, and most importantly, have fun. 💙
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and becoming part of the TDC community!

💙 This Month at TDC: SPACE & PLACE
What does place have to do with dance?
Quite a lot!
This month, our preschool dancers are discovering where their bodies are in space — from exploring their own personal space to moving on the spot and travelling safely around the studio.
And because young children learn best when concepts feel meaningful and fun, you'll see PLACE come to life a little differently in each class.
Buddy might head under the sea in Hip Hop, visit the apple orchard in Tap, have a beach party in Jazz & Pop, meet the Little Mermaid in Ballet or explore the park in Acro. 💙
Different adventures. Different movement experiences. One concept connecting their learning across the month.
