2026 U16 Shonai International Invitational Tournament wraps up in Japan!
This exclusive elite competition handpicks one boy and one girl representative from every participating nation across four continents:
▫️Europe: Denmark, France, Spain, Scotland
▫️Asia: Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand
▫️Oceania & North America: Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA
▫️Host Japan: National Team (2 athletes), Tsuruoka City Representative, Yamagata Prefecture Representative

We are incredibly proud of our two KC young athletes who flew the Canadian flag on this prestigious global stage!
Edison Li fought tirelessly through group play and secured second place in his group to advance to the top 8 knockout round. Though he narrowly lost to Denmark’s national junior player, he claimed a well-deserved 8th place among world-class U16 talents.

For Ella Guo, this marked her very first international competition outside North America. She stepped up fearlessly against elite opponents from all over the globe and finished with an outstanding 10th-place ranking.

Grateful beyond words to the Shonai tournament organizing committee for offering this rare, invaluable overseas competitive opportunity for our young Canadian badminton stars. Every rally, every match, every opponent met will become priceless fuel for their future growth on the court.
