🧹🏉 Clubhouse Clean Up Day! - Call For Volunteers 🏉🧹

We’re getting the clubhouse cleaned up and packed away for the off season, and we need a few extra hands to help get it done.

📅 Saturday, October 3
⏰ 11:00 AM–1:00 PM
📍 Markham Irish Clubhouse

We’ll be cleaning changerooms and common areas, storing equipment, taking down banners, tidying the kitchen, putting away the BBQ and tackling a few other end of season jobs.

Players, parents, family, friends and club members are all welcome. Even 30 minutes helps!

Come lend a hand, catch up with the rugby family and help us get the clubhouse ready for the off season.

🌟🏉 Exclusively Girls Rugby – Fall Sessions starting Oct 10th 🏉🌟

Join our fastest growing program designed for girls, led by girls. These dynamic sessions give female athletes ages 10 to 18 the chance to learn, grow, and thrive in a fun and supportive environment.

📅 Saturdays, 11am to 12pm
📍 Stouffville Athletic Center
💲 Free program. Drop-in basis. No registration required.

Here’s what to expect:
✨ Girls ages 10 to 11, along with 12 year olds new to rugby, will take part in active and social sessions, developing skills through fun and engaging activities.

✨ Experienced players age 12 and up to 18 will build their rugby IQ and advancing their sport-specific skills.

Whether brand new or experienced, every girl will find her place, build confidence, and discover the power of rugby!

It may be the last day of National Coaches Week, but there’s always time to celebrate the people who make our club what it is.

Today, we’re celebrating our incredible Minis and Youth coaches. Thank you for the time, energy and dedication you’ve given to our players and teams throughout the season. From teaching the fundamentals and building confidence to creating a positive environment where young athletes can learn, grow and enjoy the game, your impact reaches far beyond the pitch.

With National Coaches Week happening from September 14th-20th, we couldn’t let the week pass without recognizing the coaches who have given so much to our players and our club this season.

Today, we’re celebrating our Junior and Senior coaching teams. Thank you for the countless hours spent planning, teaching, coaching, supporting and challenging our athletes to be their best. Your commitment extends well beyond game day, and the time you invest in developing players, teams and people is a huge part of what makes our rugby community stronger.

Looking for a fun, active program for your child this fall? Our Intro to Rugby program is the perfect way for boys and girls ages 4 to 12 to discover the game!

📅 Saturdays, 11am to 12pm
📍 Stouffville Athletic Center
💲 FREE drop-in basis. No registration required.

Through exciting games and activities, kids will:
✅ Learn the basics of rugby including running, passing, and catching
✅ Build confidence and teamwork

We’re excited to welcome our U6–U12 athletes to our FREE Intro to Rugby and Exclusively Girls Rugby programs this fall! Whether you’re brand new to the game or just looking to stay active, these sessions are the perfect way to learn, play, and have fun with friends.

📍 Where: Stouffville Athletic Center
🗓️ When: Saturdays, October 10 – December 12
⏰ Time: 11am – 12pm

✅ Intro to Rugby: Ages 4-12

Another action-packed weekend of rugby is ahead for the Irish! 🍀🏉

On Saturday, our U16 Boys are heading to Ottawa to battle for the Regional Championships, while our Men’s team travels to Peterborough for Round 12 of the Marshall Championship with back-to-back action kicking off at 2:00 p.m. 🔥

Then on Sunday, our U14 Girls & Boys join the best in the province as they head to Brampton RFC for the Provincial Championships! 💪

It is with great sadness that we share the news that long-time club member Alan Kinghan passed away on July 31, 2026, following a lengthy struggle with health issues.

Alan was a cheery, welcoming presence at the club and a valued member of our community.

On the field, he was an outstanding player and leader, helping the club to league championships in 1972 and Ontario Carling Cup victories in 1978 and 1979.

In 1980, Alan was also a member of the club team that toured Ireland, an experience that will remain a special part of the club’s history.

Alan’s achievements extended to the international stage. In 1973, he earned a cap for Canada when he played against Tonga in Vancouver. Remarkably, 36 years later, his cap was finally presented to him at a Canada v Wales match in Toronto.

Alan leaves behind many wonderful memories and a lasting legacy within the club.

Our sincerest condolences go to Alan’s wife, Pat, and his son, Sean, as well as to all of Alan’s family and friends.

Rest in peace, Alan. You will be greatly missed. 🕊️
