🌟Welcome Ali O’Connor to the reformer team.🌟

Sara met her as a client in class and immediately messaged me after class saying she met a teacher with such great energy. After our first call, I couldn’t agree more. So happy to have her joining us.

Drawing from her background in competitive sports and military training, Ali discovered Pilates as a holistic approach to enhancing one’s strength, performance, and resilience. She believes in the power of Pilates as a restorative practice for injury prevention, clarity of mind, and the promotion of longevity. Her classes focus on fun movements with a blend of effort and ease to achieve a sweet & spicy balance.

Outside of the studio she enjoys sharing a good meal with friends, playing a round of golf followed by a round of🍻 and exploring different cultures through her love of travel.

💫 Welcoming our newest member to the reformer team, Sydney Chapados.

💎Precise. Creative. Challenging.💎

Sydney is a dedicated mover who found her way to Pilates over six years ago after spending most of her life as a runner. This new style of movement opened her eyes to a whole new world of control, strength, and balance, and she quickly fell in love with it! After years of taking classes, she completed two instructor trainings with Balanced Body and has been teaching ever since. When she’s not in the studio, you can find her running around the city, getting lost in a good book, or hanging out with her adorable Dachshund, Bentley.🐾

Welcome Stefania, the newest member of our team. 👋

As a dancer and lover of all things health, fitness and healing, Stefania was always drawn to Pilates for the added strength training, injury prevention and mindfulness it offered. In 2012 she completed her STOTT Pilates Teacher Training and has enjoyed teaching part-time while working in Project Management. After becoming a mom to her daughter, Ella, in 2020 she has been inspired to pursue her passion and make Pilates her full time gig. She loves to teach a tough athletic class but sees the magic in helping people improve their functional movement.

We are lucky to have her Tuesday mornings for private sessions and our Noon A$$ class.

For the Pilates people in the west end, Stefania will soon be opening a home studio for privates and semi-privates in Kanata with a reformer and Cadillac.

Ladies, let's talk about the science behind why Pilates is a great workout for those going through peri-menopause (aka sexy menopause) and menopause. As we age, our nervous system becomes more sensitive to stress, which can lead to an increase in hot flashes and other symptoms. Pilates is a low-impact workout that focuses on controlled movements and breathing, which can help calm the nervous system and reduce the intensity and frequency of hot flashes.

While some high-intensity workouts like HIIT may be great for some people, they may not be the best choice for those going through menopause. HIIT workouts can increase cortisol levels, which is a stress hormone that can exacerbate symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings and weight gain.

But back to Pilates. In addition to its benefits for the nervous system, Pilates can also improve bone density, which is important as we age and our risk for osteoporosis increases. And let's not forget about the fact that Pilates can help us maintain a healthy weight and improve our posture. As we age, it can be harder to maintain such things, but Pilates can help while building lean muscle mass and improving our alignment.

So, if you're going through peri-menopause or menopause, consider giving Pilates a try. It's a gentle, yet effective workout that can help alleviate symptoms and improve overall health.

The great thing about Pilates is that it truly is for anyone at any age.
