Hi Parents! My name is Kaitlyn and I am here to help your little ones get the sleep they need.

01/04/2026

Here’s what sleep can look like at 7 weeks:

• Total sleep: 14–17 hours in 24 hours
• Naps: all over the place (20 min–2 hours)
• Night stretches: often 2–4 hours, occasionally longer
• Day/night confusion is still normal

Try to remember:

• No sleep training is recommended at this age
• Independence comes later
• Consistency > perfection

Newborn Sleep Tips ✨

1. Keep wake windows short
Newborns can only handle 45–60 minutes awake before becoming overtired.

2. One nap in the crib a day
It helps them practice the skill without pressure.

3. Hold/rock for the rest
Contact naps are normal + developmentally appropriate.

4. Feed, then pause
After feeding, wait 10 minutes before transferring to reduce spit-up + startle wakes.

5. Don’t chase perfect
Newborn sleep is messy, unpredictable, and completely normal. You’re not doing anything wrong. 🤍

Wondering if it’s time for your child to drop a nap?

Here are 4 key signs that they may be ready:

✨ Consistently refusing one or more naps
✨ Nap time starts interfering with bedtime
✨ Waking earlier in the morning
✨ They’ve reached an age where a nap transition is typical

Common Nap Transitions by Age:
🍼 4 months: 5 → 4 naps
🍼 6 months: 4 → 3 naps
🍼 9-10 months: 3 → 2 naps
🍼 16-18 months: 2 → 1 nap
🍼 3-4 years: 1 → 0 naps

Reminder: Every child is different! Before dropping a nap, make sure multiple signs are present—not just one. Transition naps gradually and adjust bedtime earlier if needed to prevent overtiredness.

Gentle Guidance for Parents Navigating Baby Sleep

Sleep can feel overwhelming, especially in those early months. But with a little guidance and consistency, you can help your baby develop healthy sleep habits while giving yourself some much-needed rest.

🌙 Trust the Process
Baby sleep isn’t linear. There will be good days and tough ones, but progress comes with patience and persistence.

💤 Prioritize Rest for Everyone
It’s okay to rely on what works in the moment—whether that’s contact naps, stroller walks, or co-sleeping safely. Balance your baby’s needs with your own.

⏳ Follow Your Baby’s Cues
Learn your little one’s sleepy signals, like yawning, eye rubbing, or fussiness, and aim to start the sleep routine before they become overtired.

📆 Consistency is Key
Babies thrive on predictability. A calming nap-time/bedtime bedtime routine and consistent sleep environment can help signal to your baby that it’s time to rest.

🌟 Be Gentle with Yourself
No two babies are the same, and what works for one family may not work for another. Trust your instincts, and don’t hesitate to seek support if you need it.

Remember, sleep is a journey, not a sprint. You’re doing an amazing job!

Essential Tips for Better Newborn Sleep 😴

Caring for a newborn is joyful yet exhausting. Understanding their unique sleep patterns can help parents create a restful environment for everyone.

1 - Newborn Sleep Cycle: Expect 14–17 hours of sleep daily in 2–4 hour stretches due to frequent feeding needs. Irregular patterns are normal but improve with time.

2 - Day-Night Awareness: Keep days bright and active, while nights are dim, quiet, and calming to help babies differentiate.

3 - Comfortable Sleep Setup: Maintain a cool room (68–72°F), use white noise to mask distractions, and swaddle your baby to reduce startle reflex.

4 - Safe Sleep Practices: Lay babies on their back in a crib or bassinet with a firm mattress. Avoid pillows, blankets, and toys, and practice room-sharing for the first 6–12 months.

5 - Recognizing Sleep Cues: Look for signs like rubbing eyes or yawning. Place your baby down drowsy but awake to encourage self-soothing.

6 - Gentle Bedtime Routine: Create consistency with calming activities like a warm bath, gentle rocking, or a lullaby to signal bedtime.

7 - Handling Night Waking: Keep interactions minimal during nighttime feeds and diaper changes to encourage quick return to sleep.

8 - Self-Care for Parents: Rest when your baby sleeps, share nighttime duties, and seek support from others when needed.

With patience and care, you can help establish healthy sleep habits while ensuring safety and comfort for your newborn.

L I F E has been a whirlwind lately! With the kids in activities, our days and weekends fill up fast. But seeing their smiling faces makes every moment worthwhile. Fall has already been busy, and I’m looking forward to a slower pace over the holiday season when we have some time away planned.

I don’t share much about my fam jam on my business page, but I might start adding little snippets! A mentor I follow did a talk on how opening up about your personal life can help you connect with your clients, so here we are. 😊
