A little bittersweet news around here 🥹

One of my lesson students is getting her very own horse! ❤️ I am SO excited for her and this next chapter, but it does mean one of my coveted Saturday lesson spots has opened up!

So if you’ve been waiting for a Saturday spot, this might be your chance! 🐴

I can also work this spot into a sibling lesson time if you have more than one kiddo wanting to ride, so it can work nicely for families too.

Lessons are tailored to the rider and their comfort level, and are open to kids and adults.

I’ve been thinking a lot about how this little ranch is slowly becoming more than just a place to keep horses.

When we started all of this, I think our goal was pretty simple. We wanted to build a property that was well set up, had lots of room, and could actually be used and enjoyed by other people too.

Today, two of our boarders met for the first time, and honestly, it warmed my heart.

It’s pretty cool watching this little community grow naturally. One horse girl at a time. One friendship at a time. Brick by brick, person by person.

We’re still a small ranch, and I really like that about it. But slowly, we’re filling it with good people, good horses, and hopefully a whole lot of good memories along the way.

I don’t think we could have planned for this part, but it might just be one of my favourite parts. ❤️🐴

Less than 24 hours here and I think it’s safe to say they’re settling in pretty good. ❤️

One was having a good lay down, one was hanging out in the shelter, and the other was soaking up the sunshine.

Just calm, content horses taking in their new surroundings and doing their thing.

Honestly, this is my favourite part. Seeing them start to relax and get comfortable so quickly. 🥰

A little more of what we have planned for our mountain trail course. 🌲🐴

For the first phase, we’re working toward a mix of natural terrain and obstacles including hill climbs, ditches, a dry creek with a bridge, things hanging between the trees to ride through, deadfall obstacles, a tire climb and more.

We’re also really trying to space everything out so there’s room to actually ride between the obstacles. If you want to slow down and work through each element, you can. If you want to add some speed and make it a little more challenging, you’ll have the room to do that too.

The goal is for it to feel like an outdoor playground for horses, with different terrain and challenges throughout instead of just a collection of obstacles sitting beside each other.

We’re still figuring out exactly how long it will take us to get all of the first phase built, but we’re excited to keep adding to it and watching it come together.

And excuse the darker pictures… the light is starting to leave us a little earlier each evening, which is definitely signalling that the seasons are changing. 🍂🌲

The mountain trail course is officially going in! 🤠

This idea started almost 3 years ago, and to finally see it start taking shape is pretty darn exciting. ❤️

The smoothing and stick picking has begun, the skidsteer is back, and what a beauty of a job Darcy is doing! 🙌

We have lots of work ahead, but it’s so cool to watch something that’s been a vision for so long slowly become a reality. 🐴🌲

A really, really BIG thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to the amazing team at Westwinds Mobile Veterinary Services for coming out to SVS Ranch today! ❤️🐴

We truly appreciate you making the trip out to our little corner of the valley and making everything so easy for us. You arrived with everything you needed and took such great care of all the horses. It made the whole day run so smoothly, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

It was also so lovely to have so many familiar faces out at the ranch today. Getting to see family, past boarders, and friends all come through the gate made the day feel extra special. ❤️ There’s something pretty awesome about having the ranch full of horses and people we know and love.

And of course, even little Leo got in on vet day with his very own itty bitty little syringe

Thank you again, so much, to the entire West Wind Mobile Vet team for your time, your hard work, and for taking such wonderful care of everyone’s horses. We are so grateful to have you come out and be part of our ranch community!

A little ranch improvement that has been a long time coming! 🐴

For the last two years, I’ve been thinking about how we could make things a little easier as we slowly got busier. When we first started, one hitching spot was plenty because most of the time people weren’t here at the same time.

But as SVS Ranch has grown, we’ve definitely started seeing the need for a few more spots!

So today we finally added a new hitching post and a new tie rail, along with some hooks for keeping things tidy. It might seem like a small project, but it’s one of those things I’ve been wanting to get done for a while.

Slowly making little changes around the ranch as we grow, while still keeping that small, comfortable feel we love so much. ❤️

For everyone signed up, the vet will be here September 15th 10 AM–2 PM

We’ll have one horse ready to start and then work horses in throughout the day. If you have a preferred time to come, please just send us a message and we’ll do our best to accommodate you!

Just keep in mind that times are approximate, as every horse can take a different amount of time. 😊
