Much of BC’s backcountry is reached by resource roads.

These roads connect people to trails, lakes, rivers, cabins, recreation sites, backcountry areas, rural communities and outdoor tourism destinations. But no government agency is specifically responsible for keeping resource roads open for recreation.

That is why ORCBC and partner recreation organizations have launched the BC Resource Road Access Survey.

We are asking recreation groups, businesses, tourism, communities and outdoor users to share local knowledge about the roads and road systems that matter most for recreation access across BC.

The survey will help identify:
- roads currently used for recreation access
- roads at risk of closure or deactivation
- roads where access has already been lost or made difficult
- common barriers and practical solutions

Local knowledge, best estimates, photos, maps, examples and stories are all helpful.

Find the survey link in the comments.

🚨 STOLEN VINTAGE QUAD – PLEASE SHARE 🚨
The Prince George Snowmobile Club is asking for the public's help.
On June 20th, volunteers were out marking trails for our ATV Poker Ride when one volunteer's vintage quad broke down approximately 40 km up the Frost Lake Trail. Due to the late hour and heavy rainstorm conditions, the decision was made to leave the disabled machine overnight and return the next morning with the equipment needed to recover it.
When volunteers returned less than 12 hours later, the quad was gone.
We have since received information from an individual in the area who reported hearing two quads and a trailer cross the bridge and head up the Frost Lake Trail at approximately 6:00 AM. Around 7:00 AM, they reportedly heard them return. While they did not see the machines, they heard them travelling in and out during that time frame.
This quad belongs to a dedicated volunteer who was donating his time to help prepare trails for a community event. It is a vintage machine with significant personal value and cannot easily be replaced.
We are asking local residents, cabin owners, property owners, hunters, trappers, and anyone with trail cameras, security cameras, or wildlife cameras in the area to please review any footage from the morning of June 20th. Even the smallest detail could help identify who was in the area and assist in recovering this quad.
If you have any information, saw anything suspicious, or know the whereabouts of this machine, please contact the Prince George Snowmobile Club or send us a private message.
πŸ™ Please share this post throughout Prince George and surrounding ATV, snowmobile, hunting, outdoor recreation, and community groups. Let's help get this volunteer's quad back where it belongs.

The PG Snowmobile Club would like to extend a huge thank you to Ryan Colville and Brandon Van Somer for bringing our groomer safely back to town after another great sledding season. We appreciate all the time and effort our volunteers put in behind the scenes to keep our club running and our trails in great shape.

Unfortunately, we also have some disappointing news. πŸ‘Ž

Despite all the hard work and investments made this season to improve our riding area, the brand-new battery from our avalanche beacon checker and the solar panel powering our new snow depth camera at the top of the Burn have been stolen.
These projects were installed to benefit the entire snowmobiling community by improving safety and providing riders with up-to-date conditions. It's frustrating to see volunteer efforts and club resources impacted in this way.

If anyone has information regarding these items or noticed anything unusual in the area, please reach out to the PG Snowmobile Club.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support and respect our trails, facilities, and volunteer-run infrastructure. It's your support that allows us to keep improving the riding experience for everyone.

Huge congratulations to Keith Stanowski for being awarded Groomer of the Year at the British Columbia Snowmobile Federation - BCSF AGM! πŸ‘

This season was anything but easy β€” between breakdowns, long hours in the shop, and constant obstacles, it took a ton of dedication to keep things moving. But through it all, he showed up, put in the work, and made sure our trails were taken care of for our members.
A big shoutout as well to Tony for all the time and effort alongside him β€” together they tackled the challenges head-on and got the groomer back out on the snow where it belongs.

We’re incredibly grateful to have such hardworking, committed people behind the scenes. This recognition is so well deserved! πŸ™Œ

We can’t wait to have both groomers out on the snow next season, bringing even better trails to our community!
The support we’ve received this season has been second to none. We want to sincerely thank every single person and sponsor who contributed β€” whether it was for fuel, parts, or donating your time and manual labour to get things back up and running.
It truly takes a village, and we are so grateful for the incredible support behind this club!
