Meet Jenn,

Today is Her 1 year anniversary at Dark Star Functional Fitness.

At first glance, Most people will look At this picture and see a huge transformation, 50 lbs lost in a year... thatโ€™s pretty amazing in itself!!
Along with losing the weight she also lost her insecurities and her poor body image.
When Jenn came to us a year ago she was a lost soul, dealing with heartbreaks and hardships she had a lot on her plate, sad and displaced she struggled to deal with everything going on with her life.

What this picture doesnโ€™t show is everything that sheโ€™s gained! Along with a rocking new body, healthy lifestyle habits, confidence, muscles, physical and mental strength she also gained a new lease on life. A sense of adventure, the willingness to believe in herself, to push herself out of her comfort zone and try all of the things that she wanted to do that had scared her Previously, ultimately changing her life.

Jenn, thank you for letting us be a part of your journey, it has been a pleasure to watch you change and grow into the amazing, strong confident woman that stands before us today!

We are dropping CrossFit affiliation
Effective immediately. Our class structure will remain the same but we refuse to support a corporation that does not align with our values .

Moving forward we will identify solely as
Dark Star Functional Fitness.

Letโ€™s talk about motivation! With whatโ€™s going on in the world with the Coronavirus, it can seem like we are all in a halt. Not being able to see friends, eat out at our favorite restaurants, go to our gym.... it can begin to take a toll on us mentally. I want to give you some of my top tips in staying motivated in hopes that you can not only use this as advice for working out, but use this for all that you do in your everyday life!

1.Set Goals!
Donโ€™t let yourself fall prey to not making decisions for yourselves. Setting goals allows yourself to work toward something you actually want to achieve. Goals enable you to make a decision to act in a way to help you achieve them!

2. Stay Busy! Letting your mind wander into darker places is definitely not a good plan. Having things to occupy you is incredibly important. Pick up a new hobby or resume an old one. Painting, drawing, baking, crosswords, any types of crafts can help you keep your mind occupied. When we let ourselves sit stagnant it can get more and more challenging to bounce back from it

3. Stick to a routine! Donโ€™t let your daily routine fall to the sidelines. Itโ€™s more important now than ever to stick to the one youโ€™ve made. Donโ€™t have one? Nowโ€™s the PERFECT time to start one. Implement things into your day and begin making them a habit. I recommend writing down your routine so you can have a checklist to check off. It keeps me accountable and itโ€™s satisfying to be able to cross the items off as I go!

4. โ€œSurroundโ€ yourself with likeminded people. Choosing who you give your time to really can make or break you staying motivated to reach your goals. Choose people who have similar ones, or people who at least have the same drive to achieve their individual goals as you do. Reach out to those people, text, call, FaceTime... stay in contact with your people!
Having a community, like the one I have over in member Support , helps you push yourself and grow as well as helps you find a sense of comfort during the days where you are in a slump or rut!

Community > everything else!

5. Break down your goals into small, manageable tasks. When we look at things in the big picture we sometimes tend to get overwhelmed. Itโ€™s easy to get lost in the โ€œwhat ifโ€™sโ€ of a large goal or dream. But if we break down our goal into small obtainable tasks, we can use those steps to stay organized and get closer to our overall goals

6. Get back at it OR Just get started! I know so many of us are falling into the trap of procrastinating on our workouts. We keep making excuses for ourselves like weโ€™re too tired. Iโ€™ll work out in an hour. Iโ€™m so comfortable in my pajamasโ€ฆ sound familiar? ๐Ÿ˜… Well tie your ponytail up or if youโ€™re a guy donโ€™t worry about your hair, put on some workout clothes, and JUST START MOVING! Whether itโ€™s going outside for a run or just doing some air squats in place, sit-ups during the commercials of whatever youโ€™re binge watching on TV or burpees, following the daily wods in Dark Star Member Support, Even if itโ€™s just for ten minutes, I promise your body will thank you after!
I know that finding motivation can get difficult sometimes, But I promise if you follow the tips above that it will help you along the way!
We are all allowed to have tough days, weeks, but I truly believe that the more positive and uplifting people you choose to surround yourself with, the more likely you are to stay motivated and achieve your goals. To all of the members of the CrossFit Dark Star Community

Due to the world world wide effects of COVID-19 I feel like it is the best interest for the safety and health of our family and community that CFDS temporarily close its doors. Following this evenings classes we will no longer be offering classes.
We do not have a time frame for the closure at this time, we will be following the government and CDCs recommendations and we
will reopen as soon as it is safe to train again.
We will Continue to update the members as the situation unfolds.

CFDS and the community means the world to me. Trust me when I say this was an extremely hard decision to make but I feel like it is in everyoneโ€™s best interests to do their part to help stop the spread of this Virus.
If you need any assistance during this time please feel free to message me.
We will update both the personal and business pages with any and all new information.
I will be posting home workouts on our members only page so that you can continue as much normalcy to your routine as possible.

Is CrossFit safe for children? CrossFit has exploded over the last five years in Canada, with many gyms offering programs for children aged as young as three years old.
